As a Software Infrastructure Intern, you will enhance developer and customer experiences by building AI Agents and Workflows, applying LLMs to improve product quality and shipping speed.

On the Developer Experience team,, you will build AI Agents and AI Workflows that enhance how developers and customers experience Zoox. You will apply LLMs to solve real problems that slow teams down or limit product quality. Your work will focus on reducing the time it takes developers to ship features, accelerating the triage of real-world incidents, improving the quality and consistency of multimodal datasets, and designing AI Agents that automate common engineering workflows end to end. If you enjoy solving user problems with LLMs, care about product impact, and like owning projects from idea to launch, you’ll fit right in.
Requirements:
- Currently working towards a B.S., M.S., or advanced degree in a relevant engineering program
- Must be returning to school to continue your education upon completing this internship
- Good academic standing
- Able to commit to a 12-week internship beginning in May or June of 2026.
- At least one previous industry internship, co-op, or project completed in a relevant area
- Ability to relocate to the Bay Area, California for the duration of the internship
- Interns at Zoox may not use any proprietary information they are working on as part of their thesis, any published work with their university, or to be distributed to anyone outside of Zoox
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Python or C++
- Coursework or project experience in software development, demonstrating understanding of data structures and algorithms
- Familiarity with LLMs through coursework, personal projects, or hackathons
Bonus Qualifications:
- Experience with prompt engineering or LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, AWS Bedrock)
- Contributions to open-source projects
- Experience with vector databases or embedding models
- Familiarity with developer tools (IDEs, debuggers, build systems)
Compensation:
The monthly salary range for this position is $5,500 to $9,500. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level of education. Additional benefits may include medical insurance, and a housing stipend (relocation assistance will be offered based on eligibility).
