The Communication function is responsible for developing and leading strategic communications that use storytelling, earned media, influencer relations, and marketing content creation to reach and engage new consumers more frequently.

The Communications Specialist will lead the execution of communications across the region for their assigned portfolios. They will be responsible for positioning and delivering effective communication messages across all third-party and owned media channels (including social, web, TV, and print) to bring our brand image to life and ensure Red Bull remains relevant to our target audiences.

The Communications Specialist also acts as the “conductor of the orchestra,” collaborating with cross-functional experts across our media network to lead and activate Paid, Earned, Managed, and Owned (PEMO) plans within sports, culture, and brand projects, content initiatives, and beverage product innovations. They will hold full responsibility for earned media activation, building strong relationships through traditional media outreach and social influencer engagement.

They will represent Red Bull’s voice to the consumer and ensure consistent representation of the Red Bull brand across all Marketing, Media Network, and Communication activities.

Job Description

CAMPAIGN EXECUTION

Identify local media opportunities and develop corresponding pitches for Culture, Sports, and Brand programs.

Build and maintain relationships with media in key Western markets, including Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Phoenix, and Seattle.

Develop breakthrough, buzzworthy PR moments and activations to promote coverage of Red Bull’s core messaging.

Use innovative approaches to secure coverage across third-party channels, including non-traditional forms of earned media.

Maintain a comprehensive regional calendar of Red Bull’s national and regional programs.

Update and manage media lists, project plans, and coverage trackers.

Maintain a holistic, 360° perspective on campaigns, ensuring that priority audiences are reached through the most effective channels.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT & COMMUNICATIONS PLANNING

Work cross-functionally to ensure Media Network plans are achieved for relevant events and projects.

Strategically prioritize tasks and projects based on their highest potential impact and reach.

Communicate clearly and consistently with all stakeholders.

Collaborate with team members on overarching communications plans.

Oversee the accurate representation of the Red Bull brand in all regional activations.

Measure outcomes using analytical tools and report results to all stakeholders.

ALWAYS ON ACTIVITY

The Communications team is also responsible for always-on activities. You will assist other members of the Communications team in identifying and documenting athlete stories, dancer stories, and national yearlong campaigns. The team works closely with Media Relations to identify relevant regional stories to include in pitches to key national media outlets, both traditional and social.

You will help build the pipeline of always-on activity—FMEDL earned content for athletes, Forbes, collegiate programs, etc.—to ensure we stay in front of consumers daily through earned social outreach. This will be done in coordination with other departments, including Production, Creator Marketing, Sports Marketing, and others.

Qualifications

3+ years of experience in a communications role for a major brand.

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, or Journalism is preferred.

Possesses excellent knowledge of both traditional and digital media industries.

Is an innovative thinker when it comes to engaging non-traditional third-party drivers and channels.

Demonstrates exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Is a natural storyteller, with an editorial mindset and a creative approach.

Is an agile team player who knows how to get work done.

Works with passion and motivates those around them.

Lives and breathes the U.S. media industry.

Is hands-on, curious, open, and creative.

Is a problem solver and an effective mediator, able to align and coordinate conflicting interests.

Additional Information

This position is open to U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents, or individuals who are currently authorized to work in the United States on a valid visa.
The base salary range for this position is $65,600 - 98,400 + cash incentives. Actual salary offers may vary based on work experience. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified.
