Job Summary
We are seeking a Software Development Engineer 4 to join our Broadband Release Quality Engineering organization. This role will focus on developing automation, tooling, quality analytics, and AI-assisted engineering solutions that improve release readiness, operational efficiency, and product quality for Broadband devices. The ideal candidate is a strong software engineer with Broadband or device software experience who can leverage modern AI tools and technologies to improve development and quality workflows. This role is not expected to be an AI research or machine learning specialist role. Instead, the engineer will focus on practical AI and automation applications to improve test effectiveness, release visibility, defect analysis, and engineering productivity.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
Automation & Tool Development
  • Design and develop tools that improve Broadband software validation and release readiness.
  • Build automation solutions that reduce manual effort in release testing and quality reporting.
  • Create dashboards, reports, and analytics that provide visibility into product quality and release health.
  • Develop integrations between test frameworks, defect management systems, and reporting platforms.

Broadband Quality Engineering
  • Support quality initiatives for Broadband gateways, routers, Wi-Fi devices, and RDK-B platforms.
  • Analyze test results, logs, telemetry, and operational data to identify quality risks and trends.
  • Partner with Quality Engineering and Development teams to improve release predictability.
  • Support root-cause investigations and defect triage activities.

AI-Assisted Engineering
  • Leverage Generative AI tools to enhance engineering productivity and quality workflows.
  • Develop practical AI-enabled solutions such as:
    • Defect summarization
    • Test case generation
    • Log analysis assistance
    • Knowledge search capabilities
    • Release reporting automation
  • Evaluate opportunities to improve release processes through AI-assisted automation.

Technical Leadership
  • Provide technical leadership on automation and quality engineering initiatives.
  • Mentor team members on software engineering best practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement across quality engineering processes and tooling.
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Additional Skills:
  • Experience developing applications utilizing LLM APIs or AI services.
  • Understanding of prompt engineering concepts.
  • Experience creating internal engineering assistants, chatbots, or knowledge retrieval solutions.
  • Experience with:
    • Grafana
    • ELK
    • Kibana
    • Splunk
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and modern analytics solutions.
  • Experience supporting release engineering or large-scale quality programs.
