Our Story

TopDog Law is a nationally scaling personal injury firm that owns the client experience end to end, from marketing and intake through litigation. We've grown 2-3x year over year for three years running, and we're now building the operations, systems, and teams to scale without sacrificing quality or culture. We're fully remote, and we value ownership, open communication, and speed. If you want to help build something exceptional, you'll feel at home here.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to own the security, reliability, and cost of our cloud environments and the engineering tools our teams depend on. Our internal platforms are built primarily on AWS, with some GCP, and you'll be the hands-on expert who makes sure those environments are safe, well-run, and built on sound DevOps practices.
This is a hands-on role supporting multiple teams across business areas. You'll establish shared DevOps practices and capabilities that help teams deliver securely and reliably. You'll combine deep AWS expertise with a broad understanding of engineering tools, their costs, and opportunities to improve our processes. You'll bring a proven track record of implementing these practices in production environments.

What You Will Own

Cloud Security & Infrastructure

  • Secure our cloud. Own the security posture of our AWS and GCP environments, including IAM and least-privilege access, network design and boundaries, secrets and encryption, and logging and audit, and drive risks to remediation.
  • Standardize the platform. Build and maintain infrastructure as code, with clear standards for accounts, environments, and networking that teams can follow.

CI/CD & Delivery

  • Improve how we ship. Build and improve CI/CD pipelines with security checks built in, and introduce proven deployment practices such as blue-green and canary releases with reliable rollback.
  • Improve DevOps practices. Assess existing DevOps processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and prioritize and implement solutions.

Tooling & Cost

  • Manage engineering tools. Administer external engineering tools, including Sentry, APM platforms, and testing tools, covering access, configuration, integrations, and licensing.
  • Optimize cloud and tooling costs. Track cloud and tooling spend, provide clear cost reporting to teams, and drive optimization.

Support Across Teams

  • Maintain reliability. Implement monitoring and alerting, and support incident response to keep platforms reliable.
  • Support multiple teams. Serve as the DevOps point of contact across business areas, help teams resolve delivery challenges, and document reusable practices and solutions.

What You Bring

Required:

  • 7+ years of professional experience in DevOps, SRE, or cloud infrastructure engineering, with a track record of securing and operating production cloud environments.
  • Deep AWS expertise, with working experience in GCP.
  • Strong networking skills, including VPC design, routing, segmentation, DNS, private connectivity, and defining clear security boundaries.
  • Strong cloud security practices, including IAM and least privilege, secrets management, encryption, vulnerability management, and audit logging.
  • Hands-on experience building CI/CD pipelines and deployment strategies such as blue-green, canary, and automated rollback.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Experience administering engineering tools such as Sentry, APM platforms, and testing tools.
  • Experience with cloud cost visibility and management, including reporting spend clearly to technical and non-technical teams.
  • Broad understanding of engineering toolchains, including how components integrate and where improvements can be made.
  • Strong communication skills and a track record of supporting multiple teams and encouraging adoption of shared practices.

Preferred (Nice to Have):

  • AWS certifications, such as Security Specialty or Solutions Architect Professional.
  • Experience with containers and orchestration (e.g., ECS, EKS, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with observability tooling and standards (e.g., Datadog, New Relic, OpenTelemetry).
  • Experience supporting data platforms and pipelines (e.g., BigQuery, dbt).
  • Experience with compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, or in a regulated or document-heavy industry such as legal or financial services.

Who Thrives Here (Core Values)

We don't hire on resumes alone. We hire for competence, character, and mindset.

  • Embrace Change: Open to feedback, embracing change, and always asking "what's next?"
  • Committed: You care deeply, have your teammates' backs, and show up to build something lasting.
  • No-Ego Energy: Positive, professional, and solutions-oriented. Drama stays at the door.
  • Ownership: You do what you say, follow through, and treat the business like it's yours.
  • Fast & Hungry: You move with urgency, thrive under high expectations, and are motivated by growth and impact.

What We Offer

  • Base Salary: $130,000 - $160,000, commensurate with experience
  • Our job postings reflect the compensation range for the specific market and location of each role. Ranges vary by geography based on local market rates and cost of labor.
  • Benefits include: Medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) with company match, HSA, life insurance, disability coverage, paid time off, and parental leave.

Equal Opportunity Employer

We are an equal opportunity employer. Employment selection and related decisions are made without regard to age, race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability, sexual orientation, gender identification, or being a qualified disabled veteran or qualified veteran of the Vietnam era or any other category protected by Federal or State law.
