Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Sr. Director, Technical Sales to support the growth of the APEX power conversion business, including inverter and PCS product lines, as part of Nextpower’s expanding energy solutions portfolio. This role will be responsible for driving technical sales engagement with customers, developers, EPCs, integrators, utilities, and strategic partners across the power conversion and energy storage markets.

The Director, Technical Sales will serve as the bridge between customer needs, commercial strategy, product capabilities, engineering, manufacturing, and executive leadership. This role requires strong technical understanding of power electronics, inverters, PCS, energy storage systems, grid-tied equipment, and customer project requirements, combined with the ability to support commercial execution, opportunity development, technical positioning, and customer confidence. Lead the Technical Sales organization for the APEX power conversion business with responsibility for establishing operational objectives, policies, technical sales strategy, organizational execution, and long-term business growth. This leader is accountable for departmental performance, customer engagement, cross-functional alignment, budget management, and execution of strategic initiatives across Sales, Product Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Service, and Executive Leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and execute the technical sales strategy and operating plans for the APEX business.
  • Develop departmental policies, procedures, best practices, and operational objectives.
  • Lead managers and senior technical sales professionals across multiple disciplines.
  • Own departmental operating metrics, forecasting, budget, and resource planning.
  • Drive enterprise initiatives supporting product launches, market expansion, and commercial growth.
  • Lead technical sales engagement for inverter, PCS, and energy storage solutions.
  • Partner with Sales, Product, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Service, Finance, and Executive Leadership.
  • Resolve highly complex customer and technical issues using conceptual thinking and sound business judgment.
  • Represent Nextpower with executive customers, strategic partners, and industry organizations.
  • Provide market intelligence and influence future product roadmap priorities.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Develop organizational capability through coaching, succession planning, and performance management.
  • Manage managers and experienced professionals across multiple technical disciplines.
  • Ensure alignment of customer commitments, technical scope, delivery expectations, and commercial priorities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 12+ years of technical sales, applications engineering, product management, or related leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated success leading managers or multi-disciplinary technical organizations.
  • Strong knowledge of inverters, PCS, power electronics, battery energy storage systems, and grid-connected equipment.
  • Exceptional executive communication, negotiation, and strategic planning skills.
  • Willingness to travel as business needs require.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting new product launches, acquisitions, or market expansion.
  • Knowledge of UL, IEEE, NEC, NERC, and utility-scale interconnection requirements.
  • Experience with RFP/RFQ responses, compliance matrices, and commercial proposals.
