At Serve Robotics, we’re reimagining how things move in cities. Our personable sidewalk robot is our vision for the future. It’s designed to take deliveries away from congested streets, make deliveries available to more people, and benefit local businesses.

The Serve fleet has been delighting merchants, customers, and pedestrians along the way in Los Angeles, Miami, Dallas, Atlanta and Chicago while doing commercial deliveries. We’re looking for talented individuals who will grow robotic deliveries from surprising novelty to efficient ubiquity.

Who We Are

We are tech industry veterans in software, hardware, and design who are pooling our skills to build the future we want to live in. We are solving real-world problems leveraging robotics, machine learning and computer vision, among other disciplines, with a mindful eye towards the end-to-end user experience. Our team is agile, diverse, and driven. We believe that the best way to solve complicated dynamic problems is collaboratively and respectfully.

About The Team
The dynamic and diverse Hardware Engineering team at Serve Robotics ensures product safety and effectiveness. Key to driving company success, they collaborate, innovate, and create efficient solutions for high-performance robotic applications.

What You'll Be Doing

We're seeking an experienced Sr. Hardware Test Engineer to own the validation of our robot's core hardware systems. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring the performance, reliability, and compliance of hardware including compute, power system, and motor controllers. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys building robust, automated test infrastructures that bridge the gap between design and manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Define and lead comprehensive test strategies for systems including compute, power delivery, and motor controllers.

  • Design and implement manual and automated test setups, including custom fixtures and test benches.

  • Manage the full test lifecycle—from planning and execution to data analysis and reporting.

  • Perform validation for thermal performance, EMI/EMC, signal integrity, and long-term reliability.

  • Collaborate closely with electrical, mechanical, and firmware teams to ensure testability and design quality.

  • Debug hardware issues, identify root causes, and drive corrective actions with the design team.

  • Develop and maintain clear, thorough test procedures and reports.

  • Develop and execute stress and corner-case testing to uncover edge-case hardware failures.

  • Support manufacturing with test development for production and assist during new product introduction (NPI).

  • Work closely with the supply chain and manufacturing partners to ensure test coverage and consistency across production lines.

  • Analyze field data to identify potential hardware reliability issues and feed insights back into test planning and design improvements.

Qualifications

We thrive in a dynamic environment alongside smart, passionate, and creative individuals. We seek team members who embody the following experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in hardware validation, ideally in robotics, automotive, or industrial electronics.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, or related Engineering discipline.

  • Proficient with lab tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and programmable power supplies.

  • Strong skills in test automation using Python (preferred) or similar scripting languages.

  • Ability to interpret schematics, understand embedded systems, and troubleshoot complex hardware issues.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, startup-style environment.

What Makes You Standout

  • Familiarity with regulatory and environmental compliance and industry test standards (e.g., CE, FCC, thermal, vibration).

  • Experience with BLDC/PMSM motor control and sensor integration.

  • Working knowledge of PLM systems, bug tracking tools (e.g., Jira), and version control (e.g., Git).

  • Extensive hands-on experience designing, constructing, and performing tests with electrical lab instruments and measurement devices.
