The Sr Manager, Cloud Operations is responsible for ensuring the smooth, reliable, and secure operation of Cepheid’s cloud infrastructure. This includes managing cloud resources, monitoring performance, handling incidents, and optimizing costs. They also collaborate with various teams to ensure cloud operations align with business goals and maintain compliance with relevant standards.

This position is part of the IT Infrastructure & Operations team and will be based in Sunnyvale, USA. At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Overseeing the design, deployment, and management of cloud resources (e.g., virtual machines, storage, networks) across various cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Setting up and maintaining monitoring tools, analyzing performance metrics, and responding to incidents to minimize downtime.

• Ensure the security of the enterprise infrastructure and compliance with all applicable security standards (PCI, PII, HIPPA, SOX etc.).

• Analyzing cloud spending, implementing cost-saving strategies (e.g., rightsizing, reserved instances), and optimizing resource utilization.

• Leading and mentoring a team of cloud operations engineers, collaborating with other teams (e.g., development, infrastructure, security) to achieve shared goal

• Driving the adoption of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and DevOps/SRE practices to improve deployment processes and operational efficiency.

• Managing SLAs, ensuring timely resolution of issues, and maintaining high levels of service availability and reliability. 

The essential requirements of the job include:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or a related field with 5+ years managing or leading operations or cloud teams

• Deep Understanding of Cloud Platforms: Extensive hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP) is crucial. This includes:

  • Core services (compute, storage, networking, databases) and Serverless computing (Lambda, Azure Functions, Cloud Functions).

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.

  • Containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Stackdriver).

  • Security best practices and tools within the cloud environment.

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:

• 5%-15% travel as per business requirements.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Cloud Certified - Professional Cloud Architect).

• Experience managing cross-functional, sourced, or matrixed teams is also highly valued.

The salary range for this role is $160K-$190K. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.  #L1-WT1
