About Cogent Security

Cogent is an Applied AI Lab building the next generation of AI agents for cybersecurity. AI has fundamentally changed how attacks happen, allowing malicious actors to operate at unprecedented speed and scale. Cogent’s "AI Taskforce" assesses petabytes of enterprise data to remediate these issues before critical breaches occur.

To stay at the cutting edge, we blend frontier research with real-world execution. Alongside our core product work, Cogent Research serves as our applied AI lab, providing the research horsepower needed to make truly agentic security workflows a reality.

Since coming out of stealth, Cogent has experienced rapid growth. We partner with Fortune 500 companies to secure some of the most complex production environments in the world.

We’re backed by Greylock and we’ve built a team with the best minds in applied AI. Our team is comprised of people from:

  • Top universities like Stanford, Berkeley, Penn, Duke, Carnegie Mellon, Waterloo

  • Unicorn, high-growth companies like Scale AI, Databricks, Stripe, Tesla, Coinbase

  • World class cybersecurity experts from Wiz, Abnormal AI, Zscaler

  • Preeminent ML research labs like Deepmind and SAIL

About the Role

Cogent is building a world-class marketing team, and we're looking for smart, fast, exceptional people who are committed to our mission and bring a spark of creativity that sets us apart from traditional B2B marketing. As an early marketing hire, you'll have an immediate, highly visible impact. If you're a creator at heart who also knows how to build systems, and you're tired of scheduling posts for brands that have nothing to say, keep reading. This is not a "post scheduler" role. You'll be a creator-operator who can take internal work (product insights, research, customer wins, point of view) and turn it into content that travels. You'll partner closely with the VP of Marketing, Product Marketing, and technical leaders to build a consistent presence, and selectively through creator/influencer collaborations.

What You'll Do

Organic Social That Drives Real Attention

  • Own Cogent's organic social strategy and execution (primary: LinkedIn; secondary: X/Reddit/Instagram/TikTok as appropriate).

  • Create a weekly content cadence across POV, product value, customer proof, research packaging, and culture/talent content.

  • Build "content series" that compound over time (e.g., weekly VM insights, AI security myths, remediation playbooks).

Executive/Founder Voice

  • Ghostwrite for CEO, CTO, and key leaders with a strong point of view and consistent tone.

  • Build repeatable systems for capturing raw material: interviews, Slack mining, call notes, research briefs.

Content Production

  • Produce and edit content: short videos, motion-lite explainers, quote cards, carousels, blog-to-social repurposing.

  • Use AI tools to accelerate ideation, drafting, editing, and versioning while keeping quality and credibility high.

Influencers & Collaboration

  • Manage paid influencer/creator relationships (selectively and tastefully) aligned to enterprise security audiences.

  • Build partnerships with practitioners and communities for content collaborations: podcasts, AMAs, guest posts.

Story Packaging & Internal Project Management

  • Turn threat research, AI research, or product insights into marketable stories with clear narratives and guardrails.

  • Coordinate with PMM on accuracy, claims, and launch timing.

What We're Looking For

Must-Have

  • 2-5+ years in social/content roles for B2B tech (cybersecurity preferred).

  • Proven track record of growing organic presence and engagement with an enterprise audience.

  • Excellent writing skills and a sharp editorial eye. You can develop a point of view without fluff.

  • Strong production ability: you can create visually polished assets yourself or manage contractors who do.

  • Comfortable working with technical stakeholders and translating complex topics into compelling content.

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience running influencer programs in B2B (not just B2C).

  • Experience packaging research: threat reports, benchmarks, original analysis.

  • Familiarity with brand safety and compliance concerns in cybersecurity marketing.

Why Cogent

Cogent is redefining how AI can proactively defend organizations against evolving threats. Our mission is to empower security teams with cutting-edge AI agents and clear, actionable insights. You’ll join a world-class GTM team where your work directly impacts the safety of some of the world’s most sophisticated organizations.

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
