About Salesforce

Salesforce is the #1 AI CRM, where humans with agents drive customer success together. Here, ambition meets action. Tech meets trust. And innovation isn’t a buzzword — it’s a way of life. The world of work as we know it is changing and we're looking for Trailblazers who are passionate about bettering business and the world through AI, driving innovation, and keeping Salesforce's core values at the heart of it all.

Ready to level-up your career at the company leading workforce transformation in the agentic era? You’re in the right place! Agentforce is the future of AI, and you are the future of Salesforce.

The Experience:

We are seeking a seasoned, dynamic engineering leader to take full ownership of the Core-on-Git team - a distributed team responsible for enabling thousands of Salesforce core CRM engineers to work efficiently with modern Git-based workflows at a scale few companies in the world operate at.

Our core focus areas include:

  • Git and GitHub workflow integration for Salesforce core CRM

  • Developer experience optimization across the Git-based development lifecycle

  • Scalability and performance of Git operations at Salesforce core CRM scale

  • Strategic partnerships with multiple internal Engineering teams

  • Long-term architectural evolution to support core CRM's growing needs

You will combine deep technical expertise in version control systems and CI/CD with people-first leadership to deliver mission-critical capabilities that every Salesforce core CRM engineer depends on, every day. This role requires deep collaboration across multiple platform teams, and the ability to balance immediate developer needs with long-term platform evolution.

What You'll Actually Be Doing:

AI-First Engineering Leadership:

  • Model and champion AI-driven development practices across the team: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Windsurf, and MCP-powered agentic workflows

  • Ensure every engineer is equipped and fluent in hybrid human-AI development - actively multiplying team velocity, not just adopting tools

  • Partner with internal AI and platform teams to integrate approved AI models and MCP gateways into developer workflows

  • Drive AI enablement initiatives: claude.md/agents.md specs across all repos, Slackbot skills, AI-powered code generation and review

  • Establish rigorous standards for validating and auditing AI-generated code, architecture, and documentation

Strategic Platform & Product Leadership:

  • Partner with Product owners to define and drive the Core-on-Git roadmap - balancing immediate developer pain points with long-term platform scalability

  • Lead the team through critical Git workflow migrations, GitHub integration enhancements, and scale optimization initiatives

  • Serve as the primary engineering voice for Git and GitHub strategy across Salesforce Core's 5000+ developer ecosystem

  • Partner tightly with Salesforce’s SCM team, CoreCI teams (pipeline execution), and Workspace Engineering (developer environments) to ensure end-to-end workflow excellence

  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders - product management, architecture, and quality - to set priorities and deliver high-impact features

  • Drive technical decisions on Git workflow patterns, branching strategies, and scale optimization approaches

Team & People Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a distributed team of 10 engineers across the United States with full end-to-end ownership

  • Conduct structured performance reviews, career development conversations, and 1:1 coaching

  • Cultivate a culture rooted in developer empathy, operational excellence, and "you build it, you run it" ownership

  • Build and maintain team cohesion across distributed locations and time zones

  • Attract and retain top engineering talent; represent the team at internal and external forums

Engineering Excellence & Observability:

  • Enforce agile best practices; serve as Scrum lead through iterative development cycles

  • Champion robust observability across services - monitoring, logging, performance metrics, and blameless incident response

  • Drive continuous process improvement, risk identification, and operational excellence

  • Establish and track key metrics for Git workflow performance, developer satisfaction, and system reliability

  • Lead incident response and post-mortem processes for Git/GitHub-related outages or degradations

You're Our Person If:

  • 5+ years of engineering management experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment

  • Proven track record leading distributed platform or developer tools teams with end-to-end ownership

  • Strong technical grounding in version control systems (Git), source control management at scale, and CI/CD pipelines

  • Demonstrated experience operating as the senior engineering voice for an autonomous, distributed team

  • Hands-on experience or strong working knowledge of AI-native development tools - LLM integrations, agent orchestration, and MCP frameworks

  • Ability to lead with both technical authority and human-centric coaching

  • Strong data-driven decision-making, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills

  • Familiarity with agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) at team scale

  • Effective communicator across technical, product, and executive audiences

Even Better If:

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

  • Deep expertise in Git internals, GitHub APIs, and enterprise SCM architecture

  • Experience operating at enterprise scale - managing systems that support thousands of developers and millions of commits

  • Experience with monorepo workflows and tooling at scale

  • Experience working within or alongside Salesforce products or ecosystems

  • Background in CI/CD systems, build optimization, or developer productivity tools

  • Open-source contributions or community engagement in Git, GitHub, or developer tooling spaces

  • Previous experience in platform engineering or infrastructure roles
