JOB SUMMARY  

The Sr Manager, Product Management - Unified Experience Layer (UXL) is responsible for defining and executing the vision, strategy, roadmap, and business outcomes for Marriott's Unified Experience Layer (UXL), a shared technology capability that powers customer, product, developer, consumer, and contributor experiences across Digital and Enterprise products. This role serves as the product leader for UXL and is accountable for driving platform adoption, product innovation, operational excellence, and value realization while ensuring alignment with enterprise business and technology objectives. 

The Sr Manager partners closely with Digital, Enterprise, Engineering, Architecture, Experience Design, Operations, and business stakeholders to identify opportunities, evaluate investments, and deliver scalable capabilities that improve customer experiences, accelerate development velocity, and enhance platform performance. This position owns the integrated multi-year UXL product roadmap and is responsible for balancing customer needs, business priorities, technical dependencies, platform modernization efforts, technical debt, and operational considerations. 

As a strategic product leader, this role is accountable for the full product lifecycle, including product discovery, roadmap planning, business case development, prioritization, delivery oversight, adoption strategy, performance measurement, and continuous optimization. The Sr Manager leverages customer feedback, platform analytics, and stakeholder insights to make data-driven investment and prioritization decisions while ensuring successful delivery of measurable business outcomes. 

The successful candidate brings a strong product mindset, platform-thinking approach, and experience leading API-based products and shared platform capabilities. This role requires exceptional stakeholder management skills, the ability to influence across a highly matrixed organization, and a proven track record of driving product adoption, alignment, and business value at scale. The candidate should also demonstrate exposure to or proficiency in Artificial Intelligence (AI), including the ability to leverage AI and automation to improve product management practices, introduce process efficiencies, accelerate decision-making, enhance product insights, and identify opportunities to create customer and business value through AI-enabled solutions. 

This position serves as a product champion for UXL, promoting platform capabilities, responsible AI adoption, product best practices, and customer-centric thinking across Marriott's Digital and Enterprise ecosystem. 

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE  

Education and Experience  

Required:  

  • 8+ years of experience in Product Management, Product Ownership, Digital Product Delivery, Technology Strategy, or related technology disciplines. 

  • 3+ years of experience leading cross-functional teams, initiatives, products, or product portfolios in a matrixed environment. 

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience/certification. 

  • Experience leading digital products, API products, shared platforms, or enterprise technology capabilities. 

  • Strong understanding of Agile product development methodologies and tools, including JIRA. 

  • Demonstrated experience developing product vision, roadmaps, business cases, and investment recommendations. 

  • Proven ability to translate business objectives and customer needs into scalable product capabilities. 

  • Experience defining and measuring KPIs, product adoption metrics, platform performance metrics, and business outcomes. 

  • Demonstrated ability to influence decisions and align stakeholders across business and technology organizations. 

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage technical teams, executives, and business stakeholders. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate ambiguity and competing priorities. 

  • Understanding of API technologies, service-based architectures, and platform products. 

  • Experience leading shared products, enterprise platforms, or reusable technology capabilities. 

  • Exposure to or proficiency in AI, Generative AI, and automation capabilities, with the ability to identify and apply AI-enabled solutions to improve product management practices, product operations, discovery, prioritization, analytics, stakeholder engagement, or process efficiencies. 

  • Familiarity with responsible AI principles, governance considerations, and adoption practices for enterprise use of AI-enabled tools and solutions. 

 

Preferred:  

  • Experience with GraphQL technologies and API governance practices. 

  • Experience managing platform adoption and consumer enablement programs. 

  • Understanding of digital customer experience journeys and channel ecosystems. 

  • Experience developing KPI frameworks, product reporting, and value realization dashboards. 

  • Familiarity with product discovery techniques, customer research, and experimentation methodologies. 

  • Experience partnering with Architecture, Engineering, Design, Operations, Security, and Enterprise teams. 

  • Experience managing roadmap dependencies across multiple products and teams. 

  • Knowledge of modern product management practices and Product Operating Models. 

  • Experience supporting digital transformation, enterprise modernization, or platform transformation initiatives. 

  • Experience using AI-powered productivity, analytics, collaboration, or product management tools to improve team effectiveness and decision quality. 

  • Strong facilitation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills. 

 

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES  

 

Product Strategy & Roadmap Leadership 

  • Defines and executes the vision, strategy, goals, and roadmap for the Unified Experience Layer (UXL). 

  • Establishes and maintains a multi-year roadmap aligned to Digital and Enterprise business objectives. 

  • Identifies opportunities to improve platform capabilities, adoption, scalability, developer experience, and operational effectiveness. 

  • Evaluates product opportunities and prioritizes investments based on customer value, business impact, risk, and technical feasibility. 

  • Partners with leaders across Digital, Enterprise, and Technology organizations to align priorities and drive product direction. 

  • Balances innovation, operational needs, platform modernization, and technical debt considerations within the roadmap. 

  • Develops product business cases and supports investment recommendations and prioritization decisions. 

  • Evaluates emerging AI capabilities, industry trends, and technology innovations to identify opportunities that accelerate product outcomes and create business value. 

Product Lifecycle Management 

  • Leads the end-to-end product lifecycle from discovery through delivery, launch, adoption, and continuous improvement. 

  • Drives product discovery efforts by gathering stakeholder feedback, customer needs, platform insights, analytics, and market trends. 

  • Defines product requirements, epics, features, and acceptance criteria to support successful delivery. 

  • Partners with Product Owners, Engineering, and Architecture teams to ensure roadmap execution aligns to strategic objectives. 

  • Oversees backlog health, prioritization, and roadmap alignment across multiple initiatives and stakeholder groups. 

  • Ensures delivered capabilities achieve intended business, customer, operational, and platform outcomes. 

  • Uses AI-enabled tools and automation, where appropriate, to improve product discovery, documentation, insights generation, requirements refinement, prioritization, and product operations. 

UXL Product Adoption & Consumer Enablement 

  • Drives adoption of UXL products across Digital and Enterprise channels to expand usage and measurable value. 

  • Improves onboarding, consumer readiness, contributor effectiveness, and engagement with UXL capabilities. 

  • Partners with consumers and contributors to identify enhancements that improve usability, delivery efficiency, and product value. 

  • Serves as a product advocate for UXL capabilities, GraphQL/API products, and reusable experience-layer offerings. 

  • Streamlines enablement, intake, onboarding, reporting, and stakeholder communications through automation and AI-assisted workflows. 

Stakeholder Leadership & Governance 

  • Serves as the primary product lead and strategic point of contact for UXL stakeholders. 

  • Facilitates prioritization discussions and drives alignment across multiple business and technology organizations. 

  • Presents roadmap updates, investment recommendations, KPIs, product performance metrics, risks, dependencies, and outcomes to senior leadership. 

  • Establishes governance practices, intake frameworks, and prioritization processes to support effective decision-making. 

  • Identifies risks, dependencies, trade-offs, and decision points and drives timely resolution. 

  • Partners with stakeholders to incorporate AI-enabled capabilities into product roadmaps, business processes, and customer experiences where appropriate. 

Product Performance & Analytics 

  • Defines and manages key performance indicators (KPIs), success metrics, and value realization measures for the UXL products. 

  • Uses adoption, engagement, performance, reliability, operational, and customer experience metrics to guide product decisions and roadmap priorities. 

  • Monitors product health and identifies opportunities for optimization and continuous improvement. 

  • Regularly communicates product performance, platform impact, adoption trends, and business outcomes to leadership and stakeholders. 

  • Uses AI and analytics capabilities, where appropriate, to identify patterns, synthesize insights, forecast needs, and improve decision-making quality. 

Leadership & Product Excellence 

  • Provides leadership, coaching, and mentorship to Product Owners, Product Analysts, and other team members. 

  • Promotes product management best practices, customer-centric decision-making, data-driven prioritization, and responsible AI adoption. 

  • Contributes to the evolution of Marriott's Product Operating Model and product management discipline. 

  • Fosters collaboration, accountability, continuous learning, experimentation, and operational excellence across the product organization. 

  • Champions the responsible adoption of AI across product management processes and encourages practical experimentation with AI-powered tools to improve team productivity, insights generation, documentation, and stakeholder engagement. 

  • Maintains awareness of emerging industry trends, technologies, and practices relevant to AI, API products, platform products, and digital experiences. 

Demonstrating and Applying Discipline Knowledge 

  • Demonstrates expertise in Product Management, API platforms, shared capabilities, and digital product delivery. 

  • Maintains knowledge of emerging technologies, industry trends, AI-enabled product practices, and modern product management methods. 

  • Applies sound judgment and strategic thinking to complex business and technology decisions. 

  • Acts as a trusted advisor to business and technology stakeholders. 

  • Leverages insights and best practices to continuously improve product performance, customer outcomes, and operational effectiveness.
