Summary of Role: 

We are seeking a Senior Principal Engineer Business Development to accelerate growth with leading data center customers and semiconductor partners across North America.
Responsibility includes driving new business opportunities and managing key customer relationships, from early engagement through deal closure.

Essential Responsibilities: 

Drive Business Growth

  • Identify, develop, and close new opportunities across data center customers in NAM
  • Lead the full sales lifecycle from initial engagement to contract execution
  • Focus on strategic engagements including:
    • Platform solutions
    • Custom silicon programs
    • Processor IP licensing

Own Strategic Customer Relationships

  • Act as primary account owner for key customers
  • Build strong relationships across engineering, purchasing, and executive levels
  • Develop and execute account strategies aligned with customer roadmaps

Engage & Position Solutions

  • Work closely with customer engineering teams to understand system requirements
  • Position MIPS’ value proposition including:
    • Open RISC‑V-based compute architectures
    • High-performance, multi-threaded CPU IP
    • Functional safety-ready solutions
    • End-to-end offering from IP to silicon
  • Translate technical requirements into compelling commercial proposals

Build and Manage Pipeline

  • Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities
  • Ensure accurate forecasting and CRM management
  • Track progress toward revenue targets

Develop the Ecosystem

  • Expand relationships with design houses, system integrators, and partners
  • Support industry engagement (conferences, customer workshops, RISC‑V ecosystem)
  • Strengthen MIPS’ presence in the North American data center market

Collaborate Across Teams

  • Partner with engineering, product management, marketing, and foundry teams
  • Align internal stakeholders to drive successful customer engagements
  • Provide input to product roadmap based on market and customer needs

Other Responsibilities: 

  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs. 

Required Qualifications:

Experience

  • 10+ years in business development, sales, or account management
  • Background in:
    • Semiconductor IC, ASIC/SoC, or foundry services
    • Data Center electronics ecosystem
  • Proven success in closing complex, high-value deals
  • Established network within NAM ecosystem

Technical Expertise

  • Strong understanding of data center system architectures
  • Familiarity with processor IP and silicon development flows

Skills

  • Strong customer engagement and negotiation capabilities
  • Ability to operate independently and manage multiple opportunities
  • Excellent communication bridging technical and commercial topics
  • Structured pipeline and account management approach

Preferred Qualifications

  • Track record working with North American data center customers
  • Experience selling silicon or platform-based solutions
  • Experience with Embedded Compute Architectures

Expected Salary Range

$143,000.00 - $275,000.00

The exact Salary will be determined based on qualifications, experience and location.
