Job Description

Our Client is looking for a highly motivated, experienced engineer contractor to join their Online Store Engineering team. You will design and deliver department-wide projects aimed at improving the scale and robustness, and billions worth of equivalent transactional volume at which the hugely successful Online Store operates.
Client is looking for a self-starting, energetic team player with great technical knowledge, skill and technical interest. Great design and detailed execution is central do everything you do as an engineer. As part of that technical know-how, you will work closely with other engineering team members and interacting with product, design, content, QA and many other groups to lead, design and deliver world class engineering solutions in an exciting fast-paced environment.
Your work will focus on architecting and building high throughput, high performance, reliable, multi-partition transactional services to scale globally across a diverse group of countries, with corresponding transactional volumes. Understanding of SOA, secured protocols (HTTPS), data formats (XML, JSON), performance scaling, and transactional data consistency is key. You will work on aligning initiatives with a long-term technical vision and defined multi-year architectural roadmap, as well as working throughout multiple project life cycles from conception, requirement formulation, to design, implementation and delivery.

Qualifications

Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or relevant industry experience required.
- 10+ years of experience in a professional development environment.
- 8+ years of proven experience in successfully delivering advanced solutions for a multi-tier, distributed services platform.
- in-depth experience with distributed computing/services technologies
- Familiarity with technologies: SOA, J2EE or equivalent, XML, JSON, HTTP/HTTPS, Hibernate, Oracle, NoSQL. Knowledge of upstream technologies also preferred.
- Participate and actively involved in team and organization wide architecture discussions and software development best practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills. A team player.
