Position Overview
The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for designing, reviewing, and optimizing electrical power systems supporting a semiconductor fabrication (FAB) environment. This includes high-reliability power distribution, substations, cleanroom infrastructure, critical equipment supply, power redundancy systems, control systems, grounding systems, lightning protection, and integration with facility monitoring systems. The role requires prior experience in Power distribution design, semiconductor or similar industry, industrial manufacturing, mission-critical infrastructure, etc. Must be AI-Proficient.
Key Responsibilities• Develop & review electrical design packages including single line diagrams (SLD), load list, Sizing calculations, system studies, electrical design layouts, conceptual and detailed engineering packages.• Design, review & size of GIS, UPS systems, MV/LV Switchgears, Power & Distribution transformers, generators, VFDs, PDBs, harmonic filters, SCADA, PMS, grounding system, cabling schedules, and emergency power circuits.• Prepare and review technical documentation including control philosophies, schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings.• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams including Engineering Consultants, Global Engineering Team, GC & Sub-vendors.• Support development and design of power distribution for critical FAB tools.• Coordinate electrical requirements with OEM tool vendors and ensure compatibility with facility services.• Manage power requirement forecasting aligned with ramp-up and expansion strategies.• Knowledge of HV/MV distribution (220KV/66KV/33KV/6.6KV), GIS/AIS substations, switchgears, protection relays, transformers, RMUs.• Perform & review Power system Study, earthing system design, relay coordination, protection philosophy, and arc flash assessments.• Support specification & TDS preparation, procurement, FAT/SAT, commissioning, and energization of major equipment.• Ensure designs comply with local & international standards including IS, IEC, IEEE, NFPA-70/NEC, SEMI S2/S22, ISO and similar.• Conduct technical evaluations, risk assessment, design reviews, and support HAZOP/DRB processes.• Maintain accurate as-built drawings, approval documentation, and engineering logs.• Support budgeting, BOQ preparation, estimation, procurement, and schedule tracking.• Provide technical support during construction, installation, commissioning, and qualification
Provide technical oversight during construction, resolving electrical issues, and ensuring adherence to design specifications.
Supervise contractors, vendors, and third-party consultants for successful project execution.
Required Technical Skills• Proficiency in HV/MV/LV power system engineering• Knowledge of semiconductor facility tool power requirements• Experience with substations, UPS, generators, and power distribution systems• Understanding of power quality, harmonics, and grounding strategies• Familiarity with BMS/SCADA/FMCS integration.• Must have AI Proficiency in using Generative AI models such as Co-Pilot, Chat GPT, Claude or other LLMs.
