At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what’s next.

The role

The Content and Business Product organization is a key driver of this growth and scale. We build solutions that fuel the operations and insights needed to acquire, produce and promote great content at Netflix, empowering our global teams to constantly delight our members!

We are looking for a staff product designer who can think strategically, design holistically and bring structure to a fast paced and business critical space. You will lead design across the enterprise content business vertical and set out a vision for how our tools should look, feel, and work for content executives and operational teams. You will partner closely with PM’s, engineers and design AI-driven experiences that help Netflix make the best content decisions that can entertain the world.

This is a senior, highly visible role that will combine hands-on design with cross-functional influence. You’ll connect dots across the business, mentor other designers, and shape both the Hawkins Design system and the broader Enterprise XD strategy to deliver quality and innovation at scale.

This role is open to USA remote, but quarterly travel will be expected to our offices in California (LA or Los Gatos), New York City, or Seattle to engage in person with your team and cross-functional stakeholders. Regardless of location, you’ll be expected to work PST hours.

What you’ll do

  • Embed within key authoring initiatives and/or horizontal initiatives to ensure strong system alignment.

  • Own and define the long-term vision and strategy for scaled localization workflows, ensuring we meet our evolving organizational needs.

  • Partner closely with multi-disciplinary team members - Enterprise and Consumer Design, Content Design, Product Management, Engineering, Data and User Research, Operations, and others to take the business to the next level;

  • Work across all stages of the design process (user research, ideation, concept development, validation, workflow diagramming, prototyping, final visual design, and implementation support);

  • Deeply understand users and their needs, including user research and exploration;

  • Create beautiful, emotionally-compelling, pixel-perfect mockups and prototypes of the end-to-end user experience;

  • Conduct usability testing and iterate on designs with users;

  • Partner with PMs to craft systematic solutions that connect the dots between user needs, data, business goals, and business strategy;

  • Partner with engineers to build impactful products and features within the constraints of our technology and timeline;

  • Facilitate collaborative work sessions with all levels of company stakeholders;

  • Advance the discipline of product design within the organization and with partners and clients.

The must-haves

  • Proven Experience: 10+ years as a Product Designer (or equivalent experience) with a strong portfolio showcasing consumer-facing and enterprise product design work.

  • Cross-Platform Expertise: Deep experience designing for mobile, TV and/or Web platforms, with a keen understanding of cohesive cross-device experiences.

  • Problem-Solving Skills: Proven ability to tackle complex discovery and trust challenges in high-scale, evolving environments, especially where assets are limited.

  • Collaboration and Communication: Excellent communication skills with the ability to build alignment, tell compelling stories, and bring cross-functional partners along with you.

  • Craft Excellence: Strong visual design sensibility and exceptional storytelling paired with a user-first mindset; attention to detail in both structure and polish.

  • Proactiveness: Experience connecting the dots across the organization with other related initiatives across the company while driving collaboration.

  • Strong Partnership: Humble, collaborative approach to partnering with PMs, engineers, and business stakeholders to find the best solution together.

  • Mastery of Figma: Skills in advanced features such as Autolayout, Variables, DevMode, Responsive Prototypes, etc.

  • At Netflix, all roles are expected to exemplify the values outlined in our culture

Even better if you have…

  • Familiarity with the entertainment industry, content executives and pre-greenlight processes.

  • Experience working with data scientists and customer research teams to enable best in class insights

  • A track record of engaging and acquiring broad audiences, with sensitivity to global markets and localization needs.

  • Experience working with established design systems and understanding their impact on workflow scale and localization.

  • Comfort collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to deliver nuanced, trustworthy experiences.

When evaluating your experience and skills we will be focusing on:

  • An outstanding portfolio, showcasing your strengths in visual design craft, interaction design logic, and the rationale behind your design decisions;

  • Effective English verbal/written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to successfully articulate design concepts to your team and senior stakeholders;

  • Strong ability to think technically and collaborate seamlessly with engineers and data scientists as it pertains to understanding the benefits, possibilities, and constraints of common coding languages and machine learning platforms;

  • Effective time management skills to balance project schedule with fast-paced deadlines;

  • Strong conceptual thinking that balances user needs, business goals, and feasibility;
