What We Do

Gecko Robotics is helping the world’s most important organizations ensure the availability, reliability, and sustainability of critical infrastructure. Gecko's complete and connected solutions combine wall-climbing robots, industry-leading sensors, and an AI-powered data platform to provide customers with a unique window into the current and future health of their physical assets. This enables real-time decision making to increase the efficiency and safety of operations, promote mission readiness, and protect the environment and civilization from the effects of infrastructure failure.

Role at a Glance

Gecko combines robotics, sensing, and software to help people understand and maintain critical infrastructure. We’re looking for a product designer who can turn rich spatial data into clear, useful experiences for field operators and industrial workers.

You’ll help define how people interact with 3D representations of real environments: understanding an inspection, coordinating robotic systems, interpreting findings, and accessing information where work happens. You’ll bring strong interaction-design judgment and the ability to make ideas tangible through working software.

You’ll work alongside product engineers and specialists in field systems, reality capture, and 3D reconstruction. You’ll own the experience from problem discovery through prototyping, implementation, and iteration with users.

What You Will Do
  • Spend time with field operators, data analysts, and facility workers to understand their tasks, constraints, and decisions.

  • Define workflows and interactions across desktop 3D applications and AR/XR devices, choosing the medium that best serves the task.

  • Build functional prototypes using representative spatial data, and test them with users.

  • Contribute directly to interface implementation alongside product engineers, who provide support on architecture, data integration, performance, and production reliability.

  • Develop experiences for understanding robot activity, inspection coverage, findings, and exceptions within a physical environment.

  • Establish consistent interaction principles for spatial navigation, selection, annotation, information hierarchy, and feedback.

  • Evaluate what improves task completion, comprehension, and operator workload, and use that evidence to guide iteration.

Skills
  • Experience owning complex product experiences from discovery through delivery.

  • Strong spatial and interaction-design skills, demonstrated through shipped products or substantial working prototypes.

  • Experience designing for AR/XR, 3D applications, robotics, technical tools, or similarly demanding environments.

  • The ability to build interactive prototypes in code or a real-time development environment, and collaborate on production implementation.

  • Sound judgment about attention, readability, input methods, hardware limitations, and the relationship between digital interfaces and physical surroundings.

  • Comfort establishing direction in an emerging product area and working directly with users.

  • Experience with tools such as Unity, Unreal, Three.js, React, or native XR frameworks would be useful. The emphasis is on making and testing effective experiences, rather than mastery of every platform.

What Success Looks Like

Within the first three to six months, you’ll have identified a valuable field workflow, established an initial interaction direction, and delivered a working experience with engineering that users can evaluate in a representative environment. Their feedback will shape the next release. This begins as an individual-contributor role with substantial ownership and the potential to grow into broader team leadership.
