Build AI contracting at enterprise scale. Ship it fast.

Ironclad is building AI on one of the most consequential datasets in enterprise software: over 2 billion contracts across thousands of the world's largest organizations. Contracts run every dollar, deal, and business relationship on the planet, and the AI transformation of this space is still largely uncharted. Engineers here are building agentic solutions to problems that haven't been solved yet, in a category that's still being defined. The feedback loop is short, the data is rich, and the people closest to the work are the ones deciding what gets built next. That ability to deliver impact quickly is why the the companies at the forefront of AI choose Ironclad to manage their contracts.

We’re consistently recognized as a leader in the industry: a Leader in the Forrester Wave and Gartner Magic Quadrant for Contract Lifecycle Management, a Fortune Great Place to Work, and one of Fast Company’s Most Innovative Workplaces. Ironclad has also been named to Forbes’ AI 50 and Business Insider’s list of Companies to Bet Your Career On. We’re backed by leading investors including Accel, Y Combinator, Sequoia, BOND, and Franklin Templeton. For more information, visit www.ironcladapp.com or follow us on LinkedIn.

This is a hybrid role. Office attendance is required at least twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays for collaboration and connection. There may be additional in-office days for team or company events.

Staff Product Designer

As a Staff Product Designer at Ironclad, you’ll shape how legal and business teams experience contracts end to end. You’ll lead design across complex product areas—from core contracting workflows to AI-powered experiences that help customers find information, make decisions, and move work forward.

You’ll work at the pace of engineering, moving from ambiguity to a working prototype quickly, validating ideas with customers and real usage, and partnering closely with product, engineering, data, and AI teams to ship high-quality experiences. You’ll balance strategic vision with hands-on execution, lead through craft and judgment, influence product direction, and help establish the design patterns and interaction models that scale across the platform.

What you’ll do
  • Lead design strategy for a major area of the CLM platform end to end—from problem framing and exploration through launch, iteration, and measurement. Connect design decisions to customer outcomes such as adoption, time saved, cycle-time reduction, and product quality.

  • Shape AI-powered experiences and agent behavior. Determine where agents should assist or act, what context they need, how users stay in control, and how experiences communicate grounding, provenance, confidence, and limitations. Design for trust, explainability, human-in-the-loop control, evaluation, monitoring, and safe failure modes.

  • Prototype quickly using AI-native tools and other emerging methods as a default part of your workflow. Use prototypes to explore interaction models, test concepts with customers, and work through technical tradeoffs with engineering before designs are fully specified.

  • Build and evolve shared design patterns across workflows, search, data-rich surfaces, and AI experiences. Strengthen our design system and create durable capabilities that teams can reuse across the platform.

  • Partner closely with product, engineering, data, AI, and domain experts to turn customer problems and product signals into clear decisions. Bring qualitative research, telemetry, instrumentation, and technical constraints into the design process from the start.

  • Lead through influence. Articulate a clear point of view, make tradeoffs legible, and align executives and cross-functional partners around what to build and why. Mentor fellow designers through live project work and help raise the quality of design across the organization.

What you’ll bring
  • 8+ years designing digital products, including several years working on complex B2B or enterprise software. You have led at least one systemic, end-to-end initiative that changed a measurable product or business outcome.

  • Strong systems thinking. You can create coherent experiences across interconnected workflows and establish patterns that scale across products, teams, and technical foundations.

  • Experience designing AI-powered experiences, agentic workflows, search, data-rich products, or other systems where trust, explainability, and human control matter. You can make complex technical concepts understandable and useful for customers.

  • Comfort working at engineering pace: prototyping in days, iterating in public, using AI-native tools (Figma, Lovable, Claude Code) to extend your craft, and making progress without waiting for a fully scoped PRD.

  • Strong product judgment and decision accountability. You can move between customer needs, business goals, technical constraints, and long-term platform leverage, then make a clear recommendation.

  • Leadership presence and exceptional storytelling. You can communicate tradeoffs and recommendations directly to executives and cross-functional leaders, in writing and in the room.

  • A track record of mentoring designers, improving the practice, and leading through influence rather than authority.

  • Experience with contract lifecycle management, legal technology, document AI, knowledge graphs, or enterprise workflow software is a plus, not a requirement.
