Staff SaaS Platform Architect

Location: Milpitas, CA (hybrid)

We are looking for an experienced technical architect to join our Partner Platform team. The Arlo Partner Platform is the foundation that enables strategic B2B integrations across Arlo’s connected device ecosystem. It provides partner-facing APIs, event systems, device management capabilities, and integration tooling that allow third-party platforms, service providers, and enterprise customers to securely interact with Arlo devices and cloud services. In this role, you will lead the technical direction of the Arlo Partner Platform as we expand our ecosystem into new use cases, integrations & partnerships. 

As a Staff SaaS Platform Architect, you will: 

  • Lead the architectural direction of the Arlo Partner Platform through proven experience architecting enterprise SaaS platforms. 

  • Own the API and event interfaces that our partners rely on, maintaining compliance to open standards (OpenAPI, REST, etc.) while ensuring extensibility, maintainability and ease of use. 

  • Drive our objective of AI first development by integrating agentic workflows into our next generation of applications & services. 

  •  Help to define our microservice architecture supporting a global-scale, high availability, multi-cloud architecture that balances performance & cost. 

  • Guide the teams in a developer-centric, platform first mindset with a focus on good API practices, ease of integration, documentation, observability & reliability.  

  • Use strong written & verbal communication skills to bridge product & engineering objectives. Own the high-level technical architecture documents. Regularly present on progress & plans to senior leadership. 

Requirements: 

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, with demonstrated ownership of the architecture of large-scale, distributed SaaS systems. 

  • Strong experience with designing RESTful APIs and API lifecycles including versioning, compatibility & documentation. OpenAPI experience a plus. 

  • Experience with microservice architecture in cloud-native environments. Enterprise AWS experience preferred. 

  • Experience with consumer IoT devices and/or mobile application development highly desired but not required. 

  • Strong written & verbal communication skills with experience presenting to internal and external stakeholders, including executive briefs. 

Additional Strengths 

  • Experience with Java or similar language. 

  • Excellent working knowledge of Linux. 

  • Experience with AI-driven development workflows and tools (Cursor, ClaudeCode, etc.). Experience with agentic systems a plus. 

  • Experience with audio/video streaming & standards a plus. 

The pay range for this position reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries at commencement of employment and is expected to be between USD$155,000-225,000/year.  However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including role, job-related knowledge, skills, relevant education and experience.  The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including bonus, equity, and a full range of benefits.
