At Databricks, we are passionate about enabling data teams to solve the world’s toughest problems—from making the next mode of transportation a reality to accelerating the development of medical breakthroughs. We do this by building and running the world’s best data and AI infrastructure platform so our customers can use deep data insights to improve their business.

Genie One is building the AI coworker for business users: a trusted, governed way to ask questions of enterprise data, explore insights, and take action in the flow of work. Our team brings that experience to users wherever they are—across the web, mobile, and desktop applications—so a field employee, executive, or knowledge worker can move from question to insight without being constrained by a browser or a desk.

As a Staff Software Engineer on the Genie One Mobile & Desktop team, you will define and deliver the technical foundations for this multi-surface experience. You will work at the intersection of Web UI, Mobile, Desktop, shared frontend infrastructure, and enterprise-grade authentication and governance. This is an opportunity to shape a product and an architecture that are still evolving rapidly: deciding what should be shared, what should be platform-specific, and how to keep the whole system coherent as new capabilities arrive.

The impact you will have
  • Set the technical direction for Genie One across web, native mobile, and desktop.
  • Lead the delivery of customer-facing experiences on iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows, balancing web feature parity with native capabilities such as notifications, background activity, multi-window workflows, deep links, and local-file interactions.
  • Shape and execute the long-term product and engineering strategy for Genie One Mobile & Desktop.
  • Build reusable cross-surface primitives, contracts, and patterns with shared product capabilities
  • Make the hybrid codebase easier to evolve by improving boundaries between web views, native shells, platform APIs, shared services, authentication, session management, and client-side state.
  • Raise the bar for quality and operational excellence for Mobile & Desktop: testing, release automation, telemetry, performance, security
  • Multiply team through technical leadership, mentoring, and hands-on contributions to the most important problems.
What we look for
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience and a track record of shipping and operating customer-facing products at scale.
  • Staff-level technical leadership: setting direction across teams, making durable architecture decisions, and driving complex projects from definition through adoption.
  • A hybrid product background spanning web UI, mobile, desktop, or shared frontend platforms—with the ability to drive across all of them.
  • Strong experience with JavaScript or TypeScript and modern web frameworks such as React, plus hands-on experience with mobile or desktop application development.
  • The ability to navigate and improve a dynamic codebase spanning shared web code, React Native or native modules, desktop shells, webviews, backend APIs, and CI/CD.
  • Experience building secure, reliable products involving authentication, session management, enterprise networking, permissions, sensitive data, and enterprise device/application management such as Mobile Device Management (MDM) and Mobile Application Management (MAM).
  • A customer-focused, bias-to-action mindset and excellent communication skills. You make pragmatic trade-offs, learn quickly, and collaborate effectively across engineering, product, design, and security.

You do not need to be an expert in every framework or operating system. You do need to be comfortable working across layers and keeping interconnected web, mobile, and desktop experiences coherent as the product evolves.
