What you'll do...Role summary:
Walmart is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the development and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, including infrastructure, tooling, and AI/ML frameworks. This role involves driving the full software lifecycle, applying cloud-native architecture principles, and ensuring technical excellence through design reviews and mentorship. About the team:
The Walmart Translation Platform team develops an advanced translation solution leveraging neural networks to achieve exceptional accuracy and fluency. The team addresses large-scale data challenges using cutting-edge algorithms in information retrieval, machine learning, and ranking to deliver a high-availability, low-latency service that directly supports business objectives. Team members apply cloud-native architecture principles and software design patterns to build scalable, resilient systems. Collaboration drives innovation, with a focus on continuous improvement, technical excellence, and data-driven decision-making to enhance platform capabilities and overall engineering productivity.
What you'll do:
  • Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks aligned with roadmap milestones and domain priorities.
  • Apply cloud-native architecture principles to ensure scalable, resilient, and agile systems.
  • Lead full software development lifecycle activities including coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
  • Conduct system design reviews to validate feasibility and ensure alignment with architectural best practices.
  • Build AI-driven applications and integrate ML components to enhance automation and intelligence.
  • Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering excellence through documentation and knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical requirements and track success metrics using data-driven practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement by evaluating tools, processes, and code quality to optimize outcomes.

What you'll bring:
  • Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to ensure scalable and resilient systems.
  • Strong experience in software development lifecycle management, encompassing coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in API design, software prototyping, and applying software design patterns for secure, modular, and maintainable solutions.
  • Ability to lead technical design reviews and remedial actions to uphold quality and alignment with architectural standards.
  • Skilled in DevOps engineering practices to enhance infrastructure, tooling, and developer productivity.
  • Data-driven decision-making capabilities to define metrics and optimize engineering processes.
  • Demonstrated mentorship and leadership fostering technical growth and collaboration across teams.

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 - $286,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
