Why Harvey

At Harvey, we’re transforming how legal and professional services operate. By combining frontier agentic AI, an enterprise-grade platform, and deep domain expertise, we’re reshaping how critical knowledge work gets done for decades to come.

This is a rare chance to help build a generational company at a true inflection point. We have strong product-market fit and world-class investor support. We’re scaling fast and defining a new category in real time. The work is ambitious, the bar is high, and the opportunity for growth — personal, professional, and financial — is unmatched.

Our team moves fast, takes ownership, and is deeply committed to the mission — operating with intensity, staying close to our customers, and pushing each other for excellence. We live by three values: Decisiveness, Simplicity, and Job's Not Finished. We act quickly on clear judgment over perfect information, we believe simplicity is what scales, and we're never satisfied with where we are. If you want to do the best work of your career alongside people who share that drive, we'd love to build with you.

At Harvey, the future of professional services is being written today — and we’re just getting started.

Role Overview

The Staff Web Engineer joins Harvey's Web team as the senior technical leader for the architecture, data foundations, and systems integration behind harvey.ai and every web-facing surface. The team's mission is to make Harvey's web presence evolve at the velocity of the product itself — reliable, observable, and fast enough that Marketing and GTM can ship without waiting on engineering.

This role owns the technical strategy for that platform: the Next.js and Sanity architecture, the integration layer connecting the website to Harvey's marketing, analytics, and GTM systems, and the automation and testing practices the team currently lacks. You will be the most senior engineer on a small, front-end-leaning team, setting standards and mentoring as much as building.

You partner directly with Harvey's product engineering, security, and infrastructure organizations to make sure the web platform meets the same bar as the rest of the company. It is a rare opportunity to build foundational systems from scratch at one of the fastest-growing AI companies, with unusually direct line of sight from your work to the company's growth.

What You'll Do
  • Own the architecture of Harvey's web platform end to end — the Next.js/Vercel application, the Sanity content layer, and the services and APIs behind them — with a focus on reliability, performance, and scalability.

  • Design and build the data foundations and integration patterns that connect the website to Harvey's marketing, analytics, CRM, and GTM systems, supporting both real-time and batch workloads.

  • Establish automation, CI/CD, preview/deploy tooling, and robust automated testing where little exists today, reducing operational toil and increasing team velocity.

  • Set observability standards — structured logging, tracing, Core Web Vitals and performance budgets, alerting — so the team can catch and resolve issues before Marketing does.

  • Lead how the team applies AI and ML to web workflows, from content operations to personalization to internal tooling, and act as the bridge between product engineering and web engineering.

  • Partner with Security and Infrastructure to harden the platform without slowing developer experience.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a small, front-end-focused team through code review, design review, and architectural guidance.

What You Have
  • 8+ years of Web Engineering experience with deep back-end and systems expertise, and a track record of owning technical architecture at a staff level of scope and ambiguity.

  • Strong command of the modern web stack — React/Next.js, TypeScript, and server-side rendering — paired with genuine back-end depth (Node, Python, or comparable) rather than front-end specialization alone.

  • Experience architecting and operating headless CMS and content platforms (Sanity, Contentful, or similar) at scale, including schema design and publishing workflows.

  • Proven experience building and operating reliable production systems: CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, observability tooling, and performance optimization against real user metrics.

  • Fluency with data infrastructure fundamentals — SQL/NoSQL databases, caching, queuing, API and webhook integration patterns — in service of marketing and GTM systems.

  • Experience integrating AI/ML capabilities into production web experiences or content workflows.

  • Demonstrated ability to mentor less experienced engineers, influence across functions, and operate autonomously in a small team where you are the deepest technical voice.

Nice to have: Vercel platform experience; marketing/GTM systems integration (HubSpot, Salesforce, Segment, analytics); SEO and web performance engineering; prior experience as the first or most senior engineer on a web platform team.
