About the Team

Like every team at OpenAI, the Marketing team contributes to our broader mission of ensuring responsible and widespread adoption of AI. With that aim in mind, we are responsible for developing and executing strategies that drive awareness, engagement, and usage for OpenAI’s products and platform amongst our core audiences.

We take a data-driven approach to understand our customers' needs and challenges, ensuring that their voices are reflected in product development and messaging. We then partner closely with product, engineering, developer relations, comms, and sales teams to create a cohesive customer experience across all our channels.

Our focus extends beyond just promoting product features; we aim to provide valuable insights and resources that help our users make the most out of AI technologies.

About the Role

As a Startup Content Marketing Lead, you will define and drive how OpenAI co-markets with top startups. You will build social-first content series highlighting how founders use OpenAI, partner with field teams to capture high-quality moments from events, and support OpenAI's startup narrative so it lands clearly and consistently in field programs.

This role sits at the center of how OpenAI tells startup stories at scale. As a high-ownership IC marketer, you will shape the narratives founders and builders see, connect field programs to always-on content engines, and turn founder experiences into durable content franchises that drive awareness, engagement, and measurable GTM impact—helping startups build successfully with OpenAI.

In This Role, You Will
  • Define OpenAI's startup co-marketing content strategy across channels and audience segments

  • Build social-first series featuring founders and builders using OpenAI in real workflows

  • Partner with field/event teams to capture, package, and publish content from startup programs

  • Translate high-performing field moments into snackable content formats and recurring series

  • Partner with social, startup GTM, customer marketing, PMM, and comms to align narrative, timing, and distribution

  • Build editorial systems and playbooks to scale output without losing quality or technical credibility

  • Track performance and business impact, and evolve formats based on data and feedback

You Might Thrive in This Role If You
  • Have 8-10+ years of content marketing experience with clear ownership of strategy and execution

  • Have meaningful startup experience (in-house at a startup, startup-focused role, or deep founder ecosystem work)

  • Have built social-first and multi-channel B2B content programs that drove measurable outcomes

  • Can move fast and deliver high-quality work across ambiguity, tight timelines, and shifting priorities

  • Are an excellent cross-functional partner across social, GTM, field, and startup marketing teams

  • Have strong editorial judgment and know how to balance storytelling, accuracy, and business goals

  • Are energized by AI, developers, and startup builders
