Position Overview

RMI is seeking a Strategic Operations Analyst – Systems & Execution to support the day-to-day operation of core systems, processes, and reporting that enable effective project delivery, financial planning, and organizational decision-making.

This role sits within Strategic Operations and works across the Business Systems, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), and IT. The Analyst ensures that operational systems and workflows run smoothly, data is accurate and accessible, and teams are equipped to effectively use tools and reports.

Key Responsibilities

Systems Administration & Maintenance

  • Support the day-to-day administration of core operational systems, including Workday Projects Module, Adaptive Planning, and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI)

  • Assist with system updates, testing, and release management across Workday, Adaptive, and related tools

  • Troubleshoot system issues and escalate complex challenges to functional leads or IT partners

  • Assist with ensuring alignment and data consistency across Workday, Adaptive, and reporting tools

  • Support cross-system improvements  to improve  user experience as needed and identified

Reporting & Data Support

  • Responsible for building, maintaining, distributing and updating  reports and dashboards across Adaptive, Workday, and BI tools

  • Support recurring reporting processes (e.g., project reporting, financial reporting, utilization tracking)

  • Contribute to the validation and QA data across systems to ensure consistency and reliability of reporting outputs

  • Assist in improving report usability and supporting the organization’s transition to more self-service reporting

Process Execution & Operational Support

  • Support the execution of key operational workflows, to ensure financial and reporting readiness across business processes, including:

    • Project Budgeting and forecasting support (in partnership with FP&A)

    • Project Activation and reporting (in partnership with Business Systems)

    • Resource planning and utilization tracking

  • Support efforts to ensure processes are followed consistently and are as efficient as possible  

  • Contribute to process documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs)

User Support & Enablement

  • Serve as a first point of contact for user questions related to systems, reports, and processes, including monitoring the Projects Inbox.

  • Support  staff on how to use systems and reports

  • Develop and maintain documentation, training materials, and user guides

  • Assist functional leads to support training sessions and improve data literacy across the organization

Cross-Functional Coordination & Continuous Improvement

  • Collaborate with Business Systems, FP&A, BI, and IT teams to support alignment across systems, data, and processes

  • Collaborate with  the Workday/Adaptive architect, translating operational and reporting needs into system requirements

  • Contribute to the identification of opportunities to improve efficiency, data quality, and workflow integration

  • Support implementation of process improvements and system enhancements

  • Contribute to cross-functional initiatives led by Strategic Operations

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Operations, Information Systems, or related field

  • 2-4 years of experience in operations, finance, systems administration, or data/reporting roles

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail

  • Experience building or maintaining reports

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support non-technical users

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with enterprise systems (e.g., Workday, Adaptive Planning, or similar platforms)

  • Experience with Workday Projects and/or Adaptive Planning

  • Experience with BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau

  • Excellent Excel and data analysis skills; SQL or scripting experience a plus.

  • Exposure to project management, financial planning, or resource planning processes

  • Interest in systems, process improvement, and operational strategy

Location  

We are a remote-ready company with team members around the globe. Our beautiful and welcoming offices are available for meetings or focused work, whether you are traveling through or living nearby. Our U.S. offices are in New York City; Washington DC; Oakland, California; Boulder, Colorado, and Basalt, Colorado. This role can be located from anywhere in the continental United States.   

We provide you with the essential IT equipment plus a one-time home technology payment and a monthly work from home/commuter allowance to ensure you have a comfortable home office set up and necessary supplies.   

We love seeing each other in person! We occasionally gather for shared time together like retreats and learning experiences. Be ready to travel for occasional in-person meetings (and of course, we cover travel costs).  

Compensation    

At RMI, we prioritize fairness in our pay practices. Salaries are determined based on a mix of experience, market benchmarks, and internal equity across similar roles. The salary range of this position is $79,760-$98,300. New hires typically start toward the lower end of the range, depending on experience and alignment with the role’s scope. In addition to base salary, this position includes an annual bonus target of 5% and eligibility for merit-based increases, which are tied to both individual and organizational performance.
