Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company with the mission to be the world's most trusted driver. Since its start as the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has focused on building the Waymo Driver—The World's Most Experienced Driver™—to improve access to mobility while saving thousands of lives now lost to traffic crashes. The Waymo Driver powers Waymo’s fully autonomous ride-hail service and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. The Waymo Driver has provided over ten million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving over 100 million miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 15+ U.S. states.

The Business Development (BD) and Strategic Partnerships team at Waymo plays a vital role in planning the autonomous vehicle (AV) pioneer’s commercial future and driving its go-to-market strategy. Operating with an entrepreneurial mindset, this cross-functional team leverages both quantitative and qualitative analysis to identify, negotiate, and execute "first-of-kind" agreements that expand Waymo's commercial deployment globally.  Ultimately, the team acts as a bridge between Waymo’s cutting-edge engineering and the physical world, building the commercial networks required to scale its driverless technology safely and sustainably.

In this hybrid role, you will report to a Strategic Partnerships Manager.

You will:

  • Source, negotiate, and execute strategic commercial and technical partnerships with mobile network operators (MNOs) and others organizations across the telco ecosystem
  • Serve as the primary partnership manager for key telecom executives, driving joint business reviews, ongoing relationship health, and long-term co-innovation roadmaps
  • Collaborate closely with Product Management, Engineering, Legal, and Finance to ensure technical feasibility and seamless operational deployment
  • Evaluate emerging technologies to identify strategic opportunities to advance fleet safety, reliability, and scalability

You have:

  • 8+ years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships, or corporate strategy, with at least 3+ years specifically within the telecommunications, MNO, or connected vehicle/IoT ecosystem
  • Experience leading cross functionality teams - ability to translate complex engineering and product requirements into commercial contracts
  • Senior Executive Presence: Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with a track record of influencing C-suite and VP-level executives both internally and externally
  • Technical & Commercial Acumen: In-depth understanding of cellular technologies (5G, LTE, eSIM, private networks, edge computing) and carrier business models

We prefer:

  • Autonomous Mobility / Automotive IoT Expertise: Direct experience in autonomous vehicles, connected fleets, tele-operations, or intelligent transportation systems (ITS),
  • Ability to work in an extremely high-paced, ambiguous environment
  • Strong existing relationships across senior executive teams at major US and global telecom carriers and infrastructure providers
  • Familiarity with international telecommunications landscape
