The Opportunity

FINN Partners is seeking an experienced, growth-minded Strategy Director to join our Strategy and Insights team. We need an autonomous leader who brings deep expertise to help scale our agency practice, mentor rising talent, and drive organic business growth. You are a natural problem solver who comfortably navigates across industries to turn business realities into creative growth drivers.

What You'll Be a Part Of

  • A global, mid-size marketing agency that specializes in transforming brands through creativity and strategic rigor.
  • A lean, impactful strategy team where you will actively shape practice operations, agency culture, and integrated solutions.
  • A workplace that respects balance while encouraging personal growth and entrepreneurial ownership.

Who We're Looking For

  • A Self-Directed Operator: While being a key member of a growing Strategy and Insights team, you're capable of working autonomously to manage shifting priorities across multiple complex accounts without needing step-by-step instruction manuals.
  • A Growth Partner: You naturally spot revenue opportunities, upsell innovative capabilities, and actively help our agency and clients expand.
  • A Trusted C-Suite Advisor: You are comfortable sitting directly at the executive table to clarify goals, navigate tension, and fearlessly defend strategic direction.
  • A Pragmatic Problem Solver: You comfortably scale strategic methodologies to fit client realities, flexing approaches based on budget, aggressive timelines, organizational appetite, and technical readiness without sacrificing strategic rigor.
  • A Master Communicator: You run rooms with confidence, turning chaotic data points into clear narratives without leaning on rigid slide decks.
  • A Practice Catalyst: You collaborate with our team to shape and further define and refine agency processes, delegate effectively, and develop junior talent to build long-term team capacity.

What You'll Be Doing As Strategy Director, you will co-own practice growth, lead multi-stream strategic engagements, and mentor rising strategists. While reporting to the Head of Strategy, you will operate with full autonomy across integrated departments to deliver business impact.

  • Assist in Driving Revenue and Agency Growth: Identify organic expansion opportunities, contribute to account scoping, and lead strategic direction in new business pitches.
  • Represent strategy on internal client leadership teams: Stay deeply embedded in primary client conversations to clarify objectives, map audience tensions, and navigate operational realities firsthand alongside account management, project management, and creative leads.
  • Lead Client Strategy: Serve as the strategic anchor for multiple accounts, building trust from client executives down to execution teams.
  • Orchestrate Cross-Channel Deployments: Bridge high-level strategic positioning with tactical execution, ensuring overarching strategies cleanly translate into integrated multi-channel campaign architectures and touchpoints.
  • Build Reusable Frameworks: Shape new agency-wide strategy methodologies, and help represent the standard for strategy development, brand positioning architectures, and modular content systems.
  • Synthesize Complex Intelligence: Connect research inputs across various lines of business to build durable, compounding brand intelligence.
  • Develop Talent and Culture: Mentor strategy team members, delegate effectively, and foster high strategic standards across integrated teams.

What You'll Bring

  • 10 to 12+ years of strategy experience in an integrated marketing agency environment
  • Mastery in public speaking, strategic storytelling, organic growth generation, and executive advisory
  • Extensive background in steering B2B strategic initiatives within intricate or regulated industries, including tech, health, finance, and manufacturing, with a dedicated focus on solving high-stakes business challenges rather than standard consumer-lifestyle branding.
  • Demonstrated autonomy in juggling competing deadlines across multiple multi-layer workstreams
  • Deep expertise in integrated marketing with a strong focus on paid and owned channel ecosystems (digital platforms, content hubs, performance media, and martech)
  • Strong technical fluency across modern channel ecosystems, LLMs, and strategic research tools
  • Experience navigating heavily regulated industries and with B2B accounts a strong plus.

Anticipated Salary: $120,000 - $140,000.  Compensation is based on experience and depending upon workplace location.

Where You Will Work

  • Remote (U.S.) with preference for Portland, Oregon, or New York, plus access to offices in Boston, Chicago, Nashville, LA, Washington, D.C., and more.
What You'll Get
  • Generous paid time off (holidays, summer Fridays, vacation days, personal and sick leave) that gets even more generous the longer you stay.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, vision, and life insurance.
  • 401K with discretionary corporate matching contributions.
  • Discretionary annual bonus based on agency and personal performance.
  • Paid parental leave, wellness benefits, and ongoing professional development support.
  • A hybrid work model that supports flexibility and autonomy.
  • A manager who provides consistent 1:1 check-ins, and reviews.
  • Opportunities to connect with people across the organization.
