The Motion Design & Art Direction Intern position is a part of our Roblox 12-week summer internship program located in San Mateo, CA. As an Art Direction - Design and Motion, you will work alongside the Creative and Marketing teams to bring Roblox to life through dynamic and engaging motion graphics, telling our story in visually exciting ways.
You Will:
- Support the design process from concept to completion, including conducting research, brainstorming ideas, creating mockups, refining designs based on feedback and meticulously preparing documentation.
- Utilize storytelling techniques to create and present original 2D and/or 3D motion graphics content.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute creative concepts and ensure consistency of our identity.
- Operate within established frameworks, yet boldly innovate when there is opportunity
You Have:
- Pursuing an undergraduate/graduate degree in Design (i.e. 2D/3D Motion, Interaction, Graphics, Typography, Animation) or a related field.
- Passionate about design and animation, with a strong eye to detail and a desire to learn and grow.
- Proficient Adobe Creative Cloud (notably After Effects, Illustrator, and Photoshop), with some experience in 3D software such as Cinema4D, Maya, and Blender. Skilled in Figma and deeply knowledgeable in design principles and systems thinking, including typography, layout, grid systems, and color theory.
- Excited to conceptualize and create ideas that shape creative work at Roblox and bring a fresh perspective to the team.

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual hourly rate could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Please note that not all benefits shown below are applicable to internship opportunities.

$36—$36 USD
Roles that are based in our San Mateo, CA Headquarters are in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional in-office on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
