General Description:

The GCMT Data and Analytics Internship offers hands-on experience in data visualization, data quality checks, and reporting using SQL, Alteryx and Dataiku. Interns will support the creation of data analytics layers, implement data quality monitoring within pipelines, and collaborate with stakeholders to understand key metrics. A structured learning curriculum will provide exposure to pharma commercial data and its real-world applications.

Essential Functions of the Job:

1. Semantic Layer Development for LLM Enablement

  • Design and develop a structured semantic layer to support LLM ingestion and downstream analytics use cases

  • Translate existing business logic into standardized semantic models

  • Ensure consistent metric definitions, hierarchies, and dimensional modeling

  • Collaborate with technical teams to align semantic structures with data architecture standards

2. Business Logic Translation & Documentation

  • Work cross-functionally with business stakeholders to understand and capture business rules

  • Convert business rules into structured, traceable logic within the semantic layer

  • Document definitions, assumptions, transformation logic, and data lineage

  • Maintain version control and governance documentation for metric definitions

3. Data Quality & Governance

  • Develop and support data quality checks and validation processes

  • Identify data inconsistencies, gaps, and anomalies

  • Partner with data engineering teams to resolve data integrity issues

  • Support continuous improvement of data governance practices

4. Analytics & Reporting Support

  • Assist in building and maintaining analytics-ready datasets

  • Support dashboard development and data visualization initiatives

  • Ensure alignment between semantic definitions and reporting outputs

  • Help validate KPI calculations and reporting accuracy

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with business, analytics, data engineering, and reporting teams

  • Participate in requirement gathering sessions

  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders

  • Support alignment across teams on standardized metric definitions

Experience And Skills:   

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Analytics, Engineering, or a related field

  • Proficiency with Alteryx, Dataiku, or similar data preparation and workflow tools

  • Solid understanding of SQL with hands-on experience using relational databases such as Redshift

  • and/or PostgreSQL

  • 2–4 years of industry experience preferred; experience in pharma or biotech consulting is a plus

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work both independently and effectively in team environments

  • Experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure)

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and iterative development processes

  • Strong understanding of ETL processes and data pipeline best practices
