Position Summary

The Supply Chain Operations Lead is responsible for planning, scheduling, and controlling the flow of materials and products throughout the manufacturing lifecycle while leading stockroom, shipping, receiving, warehouse, and logistics operations. This role ensures material availability, inventory accuracy, efficient warehouse operations, and on-time customer deliveries by coordinating activities across Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and Program Management.

The Production Controller / Logistics Lead serves as the primary focal point for production scheduling, material readiness, inventory management, and logistics execution to support customer commitments and operational objectives.


Requirements

Essential Responsibilities

Production Control

  • Create and maintain production schedules based on customer demand, material availability, and manufacturing capacity. 
  • Release and manage work orders to support production priorities. 
  • Monitor production progress and adjust schedules to address shortages, engineering changes, and capacity constraints. 
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing, Procurement, and Program Management to ensure on-time delivery. 
  • Track and report schedule adherence, material shortages, and production status. 
  • Support revenue and shipment forecasts through accurate production planning. 

Material Planning & Inventory Control

  • Analyze material requirements and coordinate replenishment activities. 
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate support of production requirements. 
  • Manage inventory transactions and maintain ERP system accuracy. 
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies. 
  • Support cycle counts and physical inventory activities. 
  • Assist in managing raw material, WIP, and finished goods inventory levels. 

Stockroom & Warehouse Operations

  • Lead daily stockroom and warehouse operations. 
  • Ensure accurate receiving, storage, handling, issuance, and movement of materials. 
  • Maintain organized and efficient warehouse operations utilizing 5S principles. 
  • Ensure proper material identification, traceability, and inventory control. 
  • Support handling requirements for serialized, controlled, ITAR, and customer-owned material. 

Shipping, Receiving & Logistics

  • Oversee all inbound and outbound shipping activities. 
  • Coordinate domestic and international shipments. 
  • Ensure timely processing of customer orders and supplier receipts. 
  • Prepare and review shipping documentation and export paperwork. 
  • Coordinate transportation providers and freight services. 
  • Monitor shipping performance and logistics costs. 
  • Ensure compliance with company, customer, and regulatory requirements. 

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve material flow, warehouse efficiency, inventory accuracy, and on-time delivery. 
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for logistics and production control processes. 
  • Assist with root cause investigations related to material shortages, inventory issues, and shipment delays. 

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience. 
  • 5+  years of experience in Production Control, Materials Planning, Logistics, Warehouse Operations, or Manufacturing. 
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems. 
  • Strong understanding of production scheduling, inventory control, and logistics operations. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and reporting tools. 

Preferred

  • Experience in Aerospace, Defense, Electronics Manufacturing, or High-Mix Low-Volume production environments. 
  • Knowledge of ITAR, CUI, and government contracting requirements. 
  • APICS CPIM, CSCP, or related certification. 
  • Experience with Sage X3, SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems.
