What you'll do:

As a Senior Vice President, Foreign Exchange (FX) Sales at Western Alliance Bank, you will play a strategic role in leading and expanding our clients’ international financial capabilities, with a strong emphasis on facilitating cross-border payments—both inbound and outbound—and delivering tailored FX risk management solutions. Reporting to the Head of FX Sales and Trading within the Global Markets Group, you will serve as a senior FX sales partner to corporate clients navigating global currency exposures, helping them establish and evolve FX hedging programs aligned with their business goals.

Preferred locations for this role include San Francisco, or San Jose, though other cities may be considered for exceptional candidates.

Client Engagement & Business Development

  • Proactively originate, own, and grow FX business through internal partnerships with Relationship Managers and other stakeholders. 
  • Assess client eligibility, knowledge, operational readiness, and risk management objectives to determine the suitability of FX products and hedging solutions within established bank policies.
  • Conduct client discovery and qualification reviews to identify foreign exchange exposures, evaluate transaction requirements, and align FX solutions with client-identified business objectives.
  • Lead regular portfolio reviews to identify FX exposures and opportunities for risk mitigation. 
  • Build and deepen senior-level relationships with clients across industries, with a focus on corporate banking and high-growth sectors with cross-border activity. 

FX Advisory & Payment Facilitation

  • Deliver strategic FX risk management solutions, including hedging strategies for transactional, translational, and capital structure exposures. 
  • Assist clients in launching first-time FX hedging programs, including education, policy development, and execution planning. 
  • Facilitate international payments, including foreign currency remittances and receipts, ensuring seamless execution and client satisfaction. 
  • Respond to client inquiries with historical exchange rate data and market context, supported by market analysis and economic insights. 

Education & Thought Leadership

  • Lead internal and external FX workshops, training sessions, and market briefings to elevate FX awareness and capabilities across the organization and client base. 
  • Actively contribute to team pipeline meetings, sharing insights, opportunities, and best practices to drive collective success. 

Cross-Selling & Solutioning

  • Partner with Treasury Management and other product teams to deliver integrated solutions that address broader client needs.
  • Ensure FX solutions are aligned with client objectives and seamlessly integrated into their broader financial strategies.

Internal Collaboration & Innovation

  • Partner with internal development and analytics teams to refine FX-related data tools and reporting capabilities. 
  • Contribute to the evolution of internal analytics that support client segmentation, pricing strategies, and business development efforts. 

Documentation & Risk Partnership

  • Lead client engagement around the execution of FX agreements and coordinate ISDA documentation when applicable. 
  • Ensure transactions meet regulatory and risk standards, contributing to a robust and compliant FX sales environment. 

What you'll need:

  • 6+ years of related experience or similar field.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; Masters or MBA in related field preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of general banking operations, including deposit operations, loan administration, treasury management and/or other commercial banking products and services.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience working with Reuters or Bloomberg.
  • Advanced speaking and writing communication skills.
  • Chartered Financial Analysts preferred.
  • May require up to 25% travel.
     

Compensation: Salary range for new hires is generally $148,830.00 - $183,850.00 for San Francisco, CA. Salary range for new hires is generally $148,830.00 - $183,850.00 for San Jose, CA. Salary range for new hires is generally $148,830.00 - $183,850.00 for Boston, MA. Salary range for new hires is generally $139,530.00 - $172,360.00 for Los Angeles, CA. Salary range for new hires is generally $148,830.00 - $183,850.00 for New York, NY. Salary amount is determined by specific job location. In addition, the role may be eligible for annual bonus/incentives earned and restricted stock.
