Our client, a world leader in biotechnology and gene therapy, is looking for an “Systems Engineer II” based in Santa Clara, CA.

 

Job Duration: Long Term Contract (Possibility Of Extension)

Pay Rate : $57/hr on W2

Client is seeking a hands-on Systems Engineer II to support the development and integration of next-generation sequencing (NGS) solutions. This role will work with the Single Molecule Sequencing platform to optimize workflows, perform wet-lab experiments, troubleshoot system and assay issues, and support verification and validation activities.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, execute, analyze, and document experiments supporting NGS feasibility, development, integration, verification, and validation.
  • Perform nucleic acid extraction, sample preparation, library preparation, and sequencing experiments.
  • Optimize sequencing workflows and operating protocols.
  • Troubleshoot instrument, assay, and workflow failures using root cause analysis.
  • Develop and execute test cases based on product requirements.
  • Apply statistical analysis and Design of Experiments (DoE) methods to interpret data and improve sequencing performance.
  • Collaborate with assay, instrumentation, software, bioinformatics, and systems engineering teams.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and support continuous improvement of sequencing performance, reliability, throughput, and reproducibility.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 1–3+ years of relevant experience in science, engineering, chemistry, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with PCR, nucleic acid extraction, DNA sequencing, sample preparation, library preparation, and/or NGS.
  • Experience using Python, MATLAB, Git, or similar tools for data analysis or automation.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis, including JMP, regression, and ANOVA.
  • Experience with Design of Experiments (DoE) and statistical process control.
  • Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, data analysis, and technical documentation skills.
