About the Role

We are seeking a Tax Senior Associate (Institutional) to join our growing tax team. This role is ideal for someone with partnership tax preparation experience on institutional funds.

The Tax Senior Associate (Institutional) will prepare and review tax compliance for Belltower's institutional fund clients. You will work from trial balances, partner rosters, and allocation schedules to deliver accurate returns and K-1s to institutional GPs and LPs. Working closely with tax team members, Engineering, and fund accounting, you'll help shape how institutional tax is done at Belltower.

This is not a traditional tax role. The workflow is new, so success comes from being curious, comfortable with a process that is still being defined, and willing to use technology to make it repeatable.

You Will:

  • Prepare and review partnership returns and Schedules K-1 for institutional venture capital and private equity funds

  • Run book-to-tax adjustments from fund trial balances and financial statements

  • Import and validate per-partner allocation schedules and capital account rollforwards

  • Reconcile prior-year returns and data for funds migrating from other administrators

  • Prepare multi-state, composite, and foreign partner withholding filings

  • Answer institutional GP and LP questions on timing, estimates, and K-1 detail

  • Test new platform functionality with Engineering and report issues clearly

  • Look at existing processes and ask whether AI and automation could do them better

You Have:

  • 2–4 years of partnership tax experience, ideally with institutional venture capital or private equity funds

  • Experience preparing Forms 1065 and Schedules K-1 from trial balances

  • Working knowledge of book-to-tax adjustments and partnership allocations

  • Familiarity with multi-state and foreign partner reporting (Forms 1042 and 8804/8805)

  • Clear, professional communication with institutional clients

  • An instinct to question existing processes and use AI and automation to build better ones

  • CPA, EA, or progress toward obtaining one is preferred
