In this position...
As the Team Manager – Stamping, you will lead the Stamping team, providing technical guidance and people leadership to support safe, efficient, and high-quality operations. A strong engineering background will help you understand the team’s technical challenges, guide problem-solving, and support continuous improvement. You will also coach and develop team members, strengthen their capabilities, and help them take on new challenges.

Responsibilities

What you’ll do…
You’ll lead day-to-day Stamping team activities, with responsibilities that include:

  • Lead and support Stamping operations.
  • Guide the development and optimization of stamping processes to improve safety, quality, productivity, and dimensional accuracy.
  • Partner with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to resolve process and dimensional issues.
  • Support the design, validation, and buyoff of stamping dies, fixtures, and related manufacturing equipment.
  • Define and optimize datum strategies to support part quality and process control.
  • Develop and validate stamping process sequences, considering equipment capacity, part geometry, dimensional requirements, and process variation.
  • Design and implement verification methods to confirm process and product targets.
  • Conduct and support dimensional feasibility studies and process evaluations.
  • Support product development through prototype and launch build phases, with a focus on quality analysis and inspection processes.
  • Develop and maintain quality plans, including CMM, in-line and off-line inspection programs, and sectioning methods.
  • Use coordinate measurement, vision, and optical systems to conduct inspections and verify dimensional accuracy.
  • Coach and develop team members, provide technical guidance, and support individual and team performance. 
Qualifications

You’ll have…

  • Five or more years of experience in automotive engineering.
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent skills and experience.
  • A record of contributing to continuous improvement in dimensional quality and process optimization.
  • Ability to flex hours that rotate every ¾ months
  • In-depth knowledge of ASME Y14.5; GD&T certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of production and quality control in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong numeracy, literacy, and logical reasoning skills.
  • Familiarity with dimensional variation in assemblies and statistical analysis.
  • A creative, constructive, and positive approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, supported by technical proficiency.
  • Knowledge of production and prototype manufacturing methods.
  • Familiarity with DFMEA and DFMA.
  • Experience with steel and aluminum stamping or body structures.
  • Experience with measurement systems and metrology equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T principles and their application in manufacturing and quality control.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to balance team development, technical guidance, and operational priorities.
