About Doss

DOSS is building an Operations Cloud for the real world.

A modern, AI-native platform for physical product businesses to manage the flow of goods, dollars, and data in real time, across:

  • Procurement

  • Inventory

  • Orders

  • Fulfillment

  • Finance

Built to replace spreadsheet chaos and rigid, consultant-heavy ERPs. Fast time-to-value, adaptable as the business evolves.

Through our Adaptive Resource Platform (ARP) and unified operational data model, teams deploy quickly, automate workflows, and make changes without months of re-implementation.

We recently raised a $55M Series B, co-led by Madrona and Premji Invest. Participation from Intuit Ventures, Theory Ventures, General Catalyst, Contrary Capital, and Pathlight VC.

DOSS is trusted by fast-growing operators to run critical operations with speed, control, and confidence.

About the Role

We are hiring our Founding Product Engineer for our Product Applications Team. This team is responsible for building the core product that our customers experience:

  • Own scoping, design, build, and release of core business applications so they ship as generalized, scalable, FTE-efficient products.

  • Manage expansion of capabilities of existing business applications such as Order Management, Inventory, Procure-to-Pay, Warehouse Management, MRP, and Production Planning.

You will own the system design surface from data model to production. This role is for product thinkers, your priorities will not be writing code, it will be working alongside a product manager to design the best in class workflows, integrations, and scalable data model for the applications you own.

What You'll Do
  • Own the technical system design for a set of business applications: data models, schemas, workflows, integrations, and API surfaces

  • Design at the right level of abstraction, never for one off customers. Architect configurable, generalized systems that can serve the specific needs of a broad customer base.

  • Co-own the product surface. Be the steward of elegant technical systems

  • Define design doc specifications tightly for agentic systems to generate Doss' custom DSL at speed without ambiguity

  • Translate messy, multi-customer requirements into clean system design. Work with feedback to separate what generalizes vs. what's configuration vs. what's a not a requirement

  • Own release readiness. Validate that what ships matches the design, handles edge cases, scales well, and doesn't create system debt

What We're Looking For
  • Deep CS fundamentals, operations-domain fluency, and the instinct to design product architectures that thousands of customer instances configure against.

  • Experience designing systems where AI agents operate on structured data

  • Product thinker who can put themselves into the shoes of a varied customer base

  • Previous experience or background as a Software Engineer

  • Nice to haves:

    • You have designed, generalized system architectures in at least one of: inventory, procurement, OMS, AR/AP, costing, fulfillment, EDI, WMS, MRP, or production planning. Familiarity with: UoMs, BOMs, lot tracking, 3-way match, COGS, ASNs

    • Technical experience with a product related to physical operations, supply chain, or ERP broadly.

What You'll Get
  • Competitive salary + meaningful equity

  • 100% Coverage for individuals Premium medical, dental & vision coverage

  • 401(k), immediate eligibility

  • Lunch in-office 5 days/week (and dinner when needed)

  • Flexible/unlimited PTO

  • Commuter (BART/MUNI/CalTrain) and equipment stipends

  • Wellness & Fitness stipend

  • Generous parental leave

  • Relocation assistance available

  • In-office culture in San Francisco

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
