Technical Program Manager – (E5) 

The Technical Program Management Sr. Manager is an individual contributor who drives complex, cross organizational initiatives critical to Applied’s short and long-term objectives. This role is accountable for unifying diverse stakeholders, influencing outcomes without authority, and translating strategy into execution. Known as a decisive problem solver, this leader brings teams together around a single, data driven plan to deliver measurable business impact.

This role leads the development and execution of operationalizing an enterprise system—scoping strategy, defining operating models, driving execution, and institutionalizing sustainable outcomes across the entire division.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enterprise Program Leadership: Owns the design, execution, and scaling of highly complex, technical and business programs from concept through deployment, ensuring clear objectives, alignment, and measurable impact.

  • Influence & Alignment: Partners closely with leaders and senior management to align programs with product strategy, business priorities, budgets, and release schedules.

  • Problem Solving at Scale: Leads resolution of ambiguous, high‑impact challenges by synthesizing technical, operational, and data insights into actionable decisions.

  • Data‑Driven Leadership: Leverages strong data analytics expertise to connect insights across multiple data platforms, define success metrics, track progress, and guide executive decision‑making.

  • Cross‑Functional Team Leadership: Assembles and leads matrixed, cross‑functional teams (internal and external), providing clarity, direction, and technical leadership to achieve complex outcomes.

  • Operational Excellence: Manages schedules, dependencies, risks, and resources using advanced program management tools, dashboards, and analytics.

  • Resource & Financial Management: Anticipates future needs, secures resources across organizations, and manages capital allocation, purchase requisitions, and budgets to meet delivery commitments.

  • Executive Communication: Interfaces with division and executive leadership to define objectives, provide clear status and risk updates, and prepare programs for release and deployment.

  • Governance & Technical Rigor: Participates in and contributes to technical review boards, ensuring disciplined execution, scalability, and long‑term sustainability.

Functional Knowledge

  • Deep expertise in program management, operating models, pricing models, and systems across engineering, product, and business domains

  • Strong understanding of semiconductor equipment product management, product line management, product options, and sales business process.  

  • Continuously incorporates new tools, technologies, and best practices to evolve policies and execution frameworks

Business Expertise

  • Applies advanced industry and domain knowledge to improve sales business processes and pricing

  • Enables SPG Business Units to differentiate through execution excellence, data transparency, and scalable frameworks

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Information Systems, Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology, English (or other language arts), Communications, Business, Engineering, or a related field.  MBA preferred

  • Strong understanding of business process design, optimization, and operational execution

  • Experience partnering with GIS/IT teams on enterprise system development, implementation, or enhancement

  • 5+ years of experience in sales, business operations, product management, business management, program management, or a related corporate function (preferred)

  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to translate complex requirements into clear business and system solutions

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience influencing across technical and non‑technical teams

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and drive initiatives to completion

Position requires understanding of Applied Materials global Standards of Business Conduct and compliance with these standards at all times. This includes demonstrating the highest level of ethical conduct reflecting Applied Materials' core values.

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
