BRENTWOOD SCHOOL

Temporary Digital Media Manager

Brentwood School (Los Angeles) is looking for a full-time Digital Media Manager, an interim position from November 2026 through May 2027. The ideal candidate brings social media expertise, works well in a collaborative environment, has a can-do attitude, and understands the value of mission-driven, student-focused marketing. This is an exempt position.

Summary: The Digital Media Manager, reporting to the Chief Communications Officer, keeps the school’s social media presence vibrant, providing continuous digital content aligned with the school’s mission and values. The primary objective is to keep established channels active, on-brand, and responsive using and potentially improving upon existing strategies, templates, and calendars developed by the Communications Team.

The digital media manager also gathers content (photos and stories) for a weekly email to families, which requires regular presence at events, programs, and classroom activities across both campuses. This is an active out-in-the-community position (not desk-only), and on rare occasions may require weekend or evening hours.

The temporary digital media manager will use the all-school calendar and follow established brand guidelines, with attention to detail. Attendance at weekly Communications Department meetings is expected, as well as a willingness to assist in a variety of other areas, as needed.

Duties & Responsibilities

Social Media:

  • Publish audience-centric content across all established school social media channels, creating a weekly content calendar
  • Execute social media plans already developed for scheduled programs and events (e.g., Summer at Brentwood)
  • Attend school events and activities to capture photos and video for social content, including some evenings and weekends on an as-needed basis
  • Provide after-hours social media coverage when needed for time-sensitive departmental updates
  • Coordinate with existing community contributors (Library, Athletics, Alumni, Advancement, Admissions) to gather content
  • Respond to routine comments, mentions, and messages with careful attention to the school’s voice, mission, and guidelines
  • Monitor unofficial school-affiliated accounts and promptly discuss any concerning comments, accounts, or content with the CCO
  • Use social listening tools to monitor how Brentwood School is being talked about online
  • Coordinate with contract photographer for real-time athletic game updates

Weekly Email Communication:

  • Serve as one of the primary content gatherers for a weekly communication, sourcing stories, photos, and highlights that reflect the full range of school life
  • Attend events, programs, performances, assemblies, and classroom activities across both campuses each week to observe and capture material firsthand
  • Proactively solicit content from faculty, staff, coaches, and department leads; follow up to secure details, quotes, names, and images
  • Draft story write-ups and photo selections for review, and submit them on the established weekly production deadline
  • Create on-brand graphics and short-form video, as needed, using existing templates and brand guidelines
  • Maintain consistent visual identity (fonts, formatting, icons, imagery, layout) across all platforms
  • Perform basic photo and video editing as needed
Other
  • Manage the Canto process for creating portal albums for the school’s online gallery
  • Manage the school’s Niche page, updating content, monthly updates, and strategy as needed
  • Coordinate with the Athletics Department to create senior banners for varsity teams
  • Update “This Week in Athletics” calendar during each sport season
  • Manage and update the school’s external digital displays’ slides for East and West Campus
  • Attend all Communications Department meetings as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • 1+ years managing social media for an organization, brand, or institution; independent school or education experience preferred
  • Excellent content creation skills, including photo, video, and video editing, and the ability to effectively tell a story
  • Demonstrated ability to work within an established brand voice and visual identity
  • Proficiency with social media scheduling and management platforms (SproutSocial), and with social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, X, and LinkedIn
  • Working proficiency in graphic design and basic video editing (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or comparable), or willingness to learn
  • Proficiency with Asana for project and task management, and with Google Workspace for daily collaboration and file management, or willingness to learn
  • Strong writing and copy-editing skills
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to move regularly between campuses
  • Availability for occasional evening and weekend event coverage
  • Commitment to working in a diverse, inclusive school community
  • Demonstrated ability to work well on a team in a busy, fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to discretion, a can-do attitude, and willingness to learn (curiosity a plus)

This temporary position offers medical insurance, breakfast and lunch, and parking.

While being vaccinated for COVID-19 is not required, it is strongly recommended.
