Temporary Senior Accountant responsible for Shopify DTC and Amazon revenue accounting, transaction reconciliations, sales invoicing, COGS accruals, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and month-end close. The role also supports payroll reporting, GL mapping, multi-state payroll tax registrations, discrepancy resolution, and accounting process improvements. Requires strong US GAAP, revenue recognition, accrual accounting, Excel, analytical, and independent remote-work skills.
THE ROLE: TEMPORARY SENIOR ACCOUNTANT
OLLY is seeking a detail-oriented, hands-on Temporary Senior Accountant to support our Accounting team, with a focus on DTC and Amazon revenue accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys digging into the details, and can quickly take ownership of accounting processes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage Shopify DTC revenue accounting, including sales, refunds, chargebacks, gift cards, shipping revenue, and deferred revenue in accordance with US GAAP.
- Reconcile Shopify transactions to payment processors, bank deposits, and ERP records, ensuring accurate cash receipts and clearing account balances.
- Support Amazon Cold Ship revenue recognition and reconcile Amazon Vendor Central sales and shipment data with Green Rabbit fulfillment records.
- Prepare weekly consolidated sales invoices and investigate shipment, pricing, and quantity discrepancies.
- Prepare monthly COGS accruals, analyze variances against actual costs, and record necessary adjustments.
- Support month-end close, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and resolution of outstanding discrepancies.
- Assist with Paylocity payroll reporting setup, GL account mapping, and payroll tax registrations for new states.
- Partner cross-functionally to resolve accounting issues and improve accuracy and efficiency.
THE CANDIDATE
We are looking for a proactive, resourceful accountant who can hit the ground running, navigate complex reconciliations, and help keep our accounting operations running smoothly. Someone who is comfortable getting into the details, solving problems, and collaborating with teams across the business.
CAPABILITIES + SKILLS REQUIRED
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 4+ years of accounting experience, including month-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP, revenue recognition, and accrual accounting.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience working with large transactional datasets.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Experience with Shopify, Amazon Vendor Central, e-commerce accounting, or CPG preferred.
- Experience with Paylocity, payroll reporting, or multi-state payroll tax registration a plus.

LOCATION: Remote
HOURS: 40 hours/ week, 3-6 month assignment
