Position Summary


The Electronics Test Technician / Test Equipment Operator is responsible for performing functional, electrical, and system-level testing of electronic assemblies, subassemblies, and finished products. This position operates automated and manual test equipment, diagnoses failures, documents results, and supports manufacturing and engineering teams to ensure product quality, reliability, and compliance with specifications.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical, functional, and operational testing of electronic assemblies, modules, and finished products.
  • Operate automated test stations, production test systems, and specialized diagnostic equipment.
  • Follow test procedures, work instructions, engineering specifications, and quality standards.
  • Verify product performance against established acceptance criteria.
  • Record test results accurately within manufacturing execution systems (MES), databases, or quality tracking systems.
  • Troubleshoot and identify failed components, assemblies, or system-level defects.
  • Escalate complex failures to Engineering, Quality, or Repair teams as required.
  • Perform equipment setup, calibration verification, and basic preventive maintenance.
  • Support engineering validation testing and new product introduction (NPI) activities.
  • Review test logs and identify recurring failures or process issues.
  • Assist with root cause investigations and corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with ESD, safety, and quality procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Essential Duties


Product Testing

  • Execute production and qualification test procedures.
  • Perform functional verification of electronic products.
  • Conduct continuity, insulation, voltage, current, and performance measurements.
  • Verify operation of sensors, actuators, power supplies, communications interfaces, and control systems.

Troubleshooting

  • Analyze test failures and error codes.
  • Isolate hardware-related faults.
  • Verify corrective actions and retest repaired assemblies.
  • Document failure modes and findings.

Equipment Operation

  • Operate:
    • Automated Test Equipment (ATE)

Preferred Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Electronics, Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of electronics testing, manufacturing, repair, or technician experience.
  • Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and test procedures.
  • Basic understanding of electronic circuits and electrical measurements.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and manufacturing software systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in semiconductor, aerospace, medical device, telecommunications, or industrial electronics manufacturing.
  • Experience with automated production test equipment.
  • Knowledge of IPC-A-610 requirements.
  • Experience with LabVIEW, TestStand, or other automated test platforms.
  • Familiarity with MES, ERP, or quality management systems.
  • Military electronics or technical training.
