About the Team

Droyd builds autonomous robotic systems that automate repetitive manual work in real environments. We design and manufacture our hardware in-house, which means iteration, fabrication, and execution all happen under one roof.

Fast hardware progress depends on good test infrastructure, not just good product design. Our test team builds the stands, fixtures, and physical setups that make repeatable evaluation possible — essential for comparing systems, validating changes, and keeping development moving.

About the Role

As a Test Mechanical Designer at Droyd, you will design and build test stands, fixtures, and supporting hardware for robot evaluation. You will help create the physical infrastructure needed to test end effectors, motors, firmware changes, and complete demo systems.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys practical mechanical design and rapid iteration in support of testing.

This role is based on-site in San Francisco, CA.

In This Role, You'll

Test Hardware Design

  • Design test stands, fixtures, and supporting hardware for robot evaluation

  • Build and iterate on physical setups for end effector, motor, and system testing

  • Use CAD, 3D printing, machining, and rapid fabrication to create test hardware quickly

Test Infrastructure

  • Help improve the reliability and usefulness of the team's physical testing infrastructure

  • Build practical hardware for internal use with fast turnaround

Collaboration

  • Work closely with test technicians and engineers to support repeatable test workflows

  • Incorporate feedback from testing into improved fixture designs

Work Environment & Schedule

  • On-site in San Francisco, CA

  • Full-time

Compensation: $100K–$140K base salary, plus equity

We're Looking For Candidates Who

  • Have strong hands-on mechanical design ability

  • Have strong experience with T-slot aluminum extrusion for building test stands and fixtures

  • Can move quickly from concept to physical prototype

  • Are comfortable building practical hardware for internal use

  • Work well with engineers and technicians in a fast-paced hardware environment

Nice to have:

  • Experience with robotics, fixtures, tooling, or test infrastructure

  • Experience with CAD and rapid prototyping workflows

  • Experience supporting validation or R&D teams

About Droyd

Droyd builds autonomous robotic systems that operate in real production environments. We design the hardware, develop the control stack, and generate the data that enables generalist robotics.

If we do this right, robots stop being demos and start being infrastructure.

Join us and help build the systems that make it real.
