About The Role

Grace Hill is building a modern, full-funnel Demand Generation function from the ground up, and we need a leader who has done this before at SaaS companies that scaled through the exact stage we're at now. This is a player-coach role: you'll set the strategy and build the team, but you'll also be in the tools yourself in year one, because the team won't be fully staffed on day one and the pipeline can't wait.

You've scaled a SaaS demand engine from $80M to $150M+ in revenue (or a comparable growth stage), and you know firsthand what breaks at each stage of that curve, and what to build ahead of it. You think in both inbound and outbound motions, you have a point of view on how AI is changing demand generation right now (not two years ago), and you're fluent in the modern martech stack, especially HubSpot and Salesforce. You measure marketing in pipeline dollars and closed revenue, not activity, and you would rather ship something effective this week than something elegant next quarter.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and lead Grace Hill's Demand Generation function end-to-end: inbound (SEO/AEO/GEO, paid media, lifecycle/content), outbound (ABM, intent data), and customer marketing, hiring and developing the team as it stands up.
  • Set and own the pipeline strategy and targets: marketing-sourced and influenced pipeline dollars, conversion through to closed-won revenue, pipeline coverage, CAC, and payback (lead volume is an input, not the goal), and report on them credibly to executive leadership.
  • Own paid media and the demand generation program budget end to end: channel mix, agency and vendor management, and monthly reallocation based on pipeline per dollar, CAC, and payback rather than clicks or lead volume.
  • Lead the marketing portion of a weekly pipeline review with Sales leadership and take part in forecast calls: report sourced and influenced pipeline, stage conversion, and gaps to plan, and leave every review with owners and next actions.
  • Set and enforce lead response and handoff SLAs with Sales and SDR/BDR leadership, including follow-up on every qualified inbound lead within 24 hours.
  • Partner with the Brand, Events & Communications team to turn conferences, sponsorships, and hosted events into pipeline: target account lists and pre-event outreach, meeting goals, post-event follow-up within agreed SLAs, and event-level pipeline and ROI reporting.
  • Design the outbound/ABM motion in partnership with Sales: define target account criteria, operationalize intent data (e.g., ZoomInfo and similar sources), and hand Sales a prioritized, sales-ready account list.
  • Bring a real point of view on where AI belongs in demand gen today: content production, intent scoring, campaign optimization, personalization at scale, and separate what's genuinely useful from what's hype.
  • Put AI to work inside the team, not just in the plan: use it to cut production and research time, personalize at scale, and amplify proven campaigns, and report the time and cost it saves.
  • Run a disciplined test roadmap: change one variable at a time, write down the hypothesis and success metric for each test, and make a clear call to scale, fix, or stop.
  • Own the HubSpot/Salesforce ecosystem at a strategic level: lead scoring and routing logic, attribution, and funnel reporting, in close partnership with Rev Ops and GTM operations/engineering (Rev Ops owns day-to-day marketing automation administration), co-owning one set of pipeline stage definitions, source-of-truth dashboards, and a quarterly forecast of marketing-sourced pipeline by segment.
  • Roll up your sleeves where needed, building a campaign brief, fixing a broken workflow, or writing a landing page, particularly during the team's first 6–12 months.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product Marketing, Brand & Communications, Sales, Customer Success, and Rev Ops to ensure demand gen work ladders up to one coherent go-to-market motion.

Qualifications

Required

  • 10+ years in B2B demand generation including at least 4 years leading a demand generation team (ideally managing managers or senior specialists) at a B2B SaaS company. Candidates with 8+ years and an exceptional build track record will be considered at the Senior Director level.
  • Direct experience scaling a marketing/demand function through significant company growth, ideally in the $80M to $150M+ ARR range or a comparable stage and can speak concretely to what changed in the org and the motion at each stage.
  • A track record of building teams from a small or partial base, not just managing an already-mature function.
  • Hands-on fluency with HubSpot and Salesforce: you can look at a workflow or a report and know whether it's built correctly, even if you're not the one building it day-to-day.
  • Working knowledge of the modern demand gen and intent-data stack (e.g., ZoomInfo, 6sense, Bombora, or comparable tools) and a clear point of view on where AI tools genuinely improve output versus add noise.
  • Demonstrated command of both inbound (SEO/AEO/GEO, content, paid) and outbound/ABM motions; this is not a purely brand or content background.
  • A track record of owning a paid media and program budget at a company of comparable scale, and of reallocating spend based on measured pipeline and payback.
  • Experience running or co-running recurring pipeline reviews and forecast cadences with Sales leadership, and defending marketing’s numbers in front of Sales and Finance.
  • Experience partnering with Rev Ops or GTM operations/engineering to build attribution, funnel dashboards, and pipeline forecasts that leadership uses to plan.
  • Experience aligning with SDR/BDR teams on routing, follow-up cadences, and response-time SLAs.
  • Experience turning trade shows and sponsored events into measurable pipeline, working with an events or field marketing team you do not manage.
  • Hands-on use of AI tools in your own and your team’s daily workflow, with specific examples of measured efficiency gains.
  • Comfortable operating without a fully built team or process in place and energized rather than frustrated by that stage of building.
  • Sharp, data-literate communicator who can present pipeline performance and strategy clearly to a CMO, and CEO.

Preferred

  • Experience in real estate technology, proptech, or another vertical SaaS market with a similarly relationship-driven buyer.
  • Experience operating inside a PE-backed or newly-scaling marketing org, where the team is being built in real time alongside the strategy.
  • Experience with signal-based or AI-native GTM tooling (e.g., Clay, Common Room, Claude) used to prioritize accounts and time outreach.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary:  Up to $195K + Bonus
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits
  • Remote work option
  • Collaborative, mission-driven culture

Success in the First Year Looks Like

  • Core Demand Generation team hired and ramped against a hiring plan agreed with the CMO, with clear owners for inbound, outbound/ABM, and lifecycle/customer marketing.
  • A functioning ABM/intent-data motion delivering prioritized, sales-ready account lists to the sales team on a predictable cadence.
  • Clear, trusted pipeline reporting that the CMO and executive team rely on for planning., built with GTM operations and reviewed weekly with Sales leadership
  • Paid and program spend running against agreed CAC and payback targets, reallocated monthly on results.
  • Lead response and handoff SLAs, including 24-hour follow-up on qualified inbound leads, in place and consistently met.
  • Every major event has a target account list, a follow-up plan, and reported pipeline and ROI.
  • At least two meaningful AI-enabled improvements integrated into the demand gen workflow, each with measured time or cost savings

What you need to know about the San Francisco Tech Scene

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
