About MGT Insurance

MGT is the first AI-driven, neo-insurer focused on evolving commercial P&C insurance for the brokers and small business owners. By combining the expertise of industry veterans with state-of-the-art technology, we are ushering in the next evolution of commercial insurance and working to move the industry forward through the use of modern technology, better processes, and a rock-star team. We seek visionary leaders who thrive in dynamic, entrepreneurial settings, and excel in autonomous roles.

The Role

We’re hiring a VP of Finance to build and lead our finance and accounting function as we scale. You will own financial strategy, planning, and operations and play a key role in long-term capital management and M&A. You’ll partner closely across the business, including business development, insurance, operations, people, and engineering leadership. This is a player-coach role for a hands-on executive who balances strategic leadership with operational execution in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will be responsible for both setting financial direction and ensuring disciplined execution as the company scales. Responsibilities include:

  • Partner with the Co-CEOs on company strategy, capital allocation, and long-term financial planning
  • Define and execute financial goals across P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow performance; lead the long-range plan, annual budgeting, and monthly forecasting processes.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with senior executives to ensure alignment of financial and operational strategies
  • Analyze financial results, provide insights, and recommend actions to improve performance; shape and inform strategic decisions related to unit economics, market expansion, and capital allocation.
  • Build and initially operate key financial infrastructure, while designing and implementing scalable systems, controls, and processes to support significant revenue growth over the next 2 years.
  • Lead Board-level financial reporting and investor communications, owning MGT’s financial narrative
  • Oversee capital structure and funding strategies
  • Lead, develop, and mentor the Finance and Accounting team as the organization scales.
  • Manage relationships with external partners, including auditors, advisors, and financial institutions

Who You Are

You thrive in demanding, high-ownership environments and are comfortable balancing hands-on execution with executive-level leadership in a startup setting. You are energized by building from the ground up and navigating periods of intensity and ambiguity. Job Requirements include:

  • Proven experience in senior finance leadership roles with scope and responsibility comparable to a VP or Head of Finance
  • Deep experience in FP&A and strategic finance, ideally in high-growth environments with comparable scale and complexity (e.g., $50M–$500M in revenue)
  • Demonstrated experience building finance teams and functions from the ground up, including hiring, systems implementation, and process design
  • Experience in balance sheet businesses, insurtech, fintech, or other highly regulated industries is helpful but not required

Compensation:

$225,000-$325,000 annual base salary + bonus + equity (commensurate with experience and dependent on location)

We recognize that no candidate will meet every qualification and encourage individuals with relevant experience and interest in the role to apply.

Please note: MGT does not accept unsolicited resumes from staffing vendors, including recruitment agencies and/or search firms. Please do not forward resumes to our jobs alias, MGT employees, or any other company location. Any submittals without a prior signed agreement will become property of MGT.
