About Backblaze

Backblaze is the object storage leader in the open cloud movement, fueling customer success with cloud storage built purposefully to unlock budgets, unburden administrators, and unleash innovators. Together with our partners, we’re helping customers break free from the restrictive, overpriced legacy solutions that hold them back, and blaze forward with the full power of the open cloud in their hands.

Founded in 2007, we scaled the business with less than $3 million in outside funding until 2021, when we did a traditional IPO on the Nasdaq stock exchange. Today, Backblaze generates over $137M ARR and is the leading specialized storage cloud - managing over three billion gigabytes of data storage for 500K+ customers in 175+ countries, including businesses, developers, IT professionals, and individuals.

But while there is a lot to celebrate in our past, there is almost as much opportunity ahead of us. We are seeking a Vice President of IT to join our growing team!

Help Shape the Future of IT at Backblaze

We’re hiring a Vice President of IT to lead the strategy behind our Enterprise Applications and IT architecture. You’ll drive high-impact projects that support our fast growth, especially in B2B. This role reports to the CFO and works closely with teams across the business.

You’ll own the roadmap for ERP, HRIS, billing, data governance, and internal IT systems and build the structure to scale with our expansion.

What You’ll Tackle

Set the IT Strategy

  • Own and evolve our enterprise applications stack: NetSuite, Workday, billing, and expense tools.
  • Drive the tech roadmap to support growth, both near-term and long-term.
  • Standardize project execution with clear SDLC practices

Lead Major Projects

  • Oversee migrations to enterprise billing, customer support platforms, and new HRIS
  • Roll out AP automation, procurement tools, and reporting dashboards
  • Support international expansion with strong IT systems and processes

Define architecture and data models that support B2B and cross-functional collaboration

Make Operations Work Better

  • Cut costs by streamlining internal support, especially within NetSuite
  • Strengthen compliance and security across systems

Automate onboarding, SaaS access, and internal IT workflows

Build and Lead the Team

  • Grow and manage high-performing IT teams, including offshore support

Align with internal partners to meet business needs

What Success Looks Like

  • Projects delivered on time, within budget
  • Lower IT costs, stronger performance
  • Systems that scale with the business

High satisfaction from business stakeholders

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or relevant Master’s preferred
  • 10+ years of IT leadership
  • Deep experience with NetSuite, enterprise HRIS (such as Workday), Salesforce, Hubspot, Snowflake and enterprise-level application management.
  • Strong track record leading digital transformation
  • Experience managing 24/7, 365 global and distributed teams
  • Strategic thinker with deep technical expertise and exceptional stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong understanding of compliance, security, and governance frameworks (SOX, StateRamp).
  • Domain knowledge of cloud infrastructure, SaaS business models, or B2B tech environments.
  • Prior experience in IT leadership roles within rapidly scaling tech companies.
