About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Vice President Legal to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide expert legal advice to the business, ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, manage legal risk, and support corporate initiatives. This role requires strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills with a proven ability to lead complex legal matters in a fast-paced environment.


Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead and scale the Legal function, defining the optimal team structure within the first 30–60 days and establishing a clear vision for growth.
    • Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership, aligning legal strategy with business goals to balance risk management and agility.
    • Provide counsel across a wide range of corporate, commercial, and compliance matters, including contracts, partnerships, employment, data privacy, and regulatory issues.
    • Draft, review, and negotiate complex agreements such as vendor, licensing, partnership, and service contracts.
    • Develop and implement legal frameworks, including policies, templates, and a comprehensive commercial playbook, to drive consistency and efficiency.
    • Oversee the cleanup and centralization of the company’s legal repository, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and compliance.
    • Stay current on laws and regulations impacting the business, including data privacy and ESG-related requirements.
    • Foster a culture of clarity, accountability, and urgency within the Legal team, ensuring near-term priorities are managed while enabling long-term strategy.
    • Demonstrate decisive, visible leadership and strong executive presence across the organization.

Qualifications:

    • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
    • 7–10+ years of relevant legal experience, ideally a blend of law firm and in-house counsel roles.
    • Proven ability to advise senior leadership on complex commercial, compliance, and operational legal matters.
    • Exceptional contract drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
    • Strong cross-functional influence and business judgment.
    • Experience within Information Services, Enterprise SaaS, or high-growth/private-equity-backed companies preferred.
    • Familiarity with data privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA) and ESG frameworks.
    • Active license to practice law in New York preferred but not required.
