We're at a key inflection point in our growth and are looking for a Vice President of Product Marketing to own how the world understands, chooses, and adopts Astronomer products. You'll lead the team that turns a deeply technical platform into a clear, differentiated story across the data engineering, AI, and executive buyer landscape. You'll shape positioning, messaging, and launch strategy for a platform at the center of the AI era, and you'll be the voice that connects Product, Sales, and Marketing around one narrative.

In this role, you'll report to the SVP of Marketing and partner closely with the Product, Engineering, Sales, Demand Generation, and Customer Success leaders. You'll build and lead a high-performing product marketing organization while staying close enough to the work to sharpen the story yourself.

Location: Remote-based / Hybrid in NYC or San Francisco Bay Area

As a Vice President of Product Marketing, you'll get to:
  • Own the Astro narrative: define positioning, messaging, and category strategy across Astro, Astro Private Cloud, and our agentic orchestration and AI capabilities

  • Lead launches end to end, from Airflow releases and platform features to major product moments, in lockstep with Product, Engineering, and Sales

  • Build, coach, and scale a product marketing team covering product, solutions and industry, competitive intelligence, and sales enablement

  • Deeply understand our buyers and users, from data engineers and platform teams to data and AI leaders to executives, and turn customer and market insight into sharper strategy

  • Drive competitive strategy and win/loss programs so our field teams can confidently differentiate against other managed Airflow services and alternative orchestrators

  • Equip Sales and Customer Success with the messaging, battlecards, and training that move deals forward and expand accounts

  • Partner with Demand Generation, Content, Events, and Community to turn the story into pipeline, and measure what works

  • Bring product marketing's voice into roadmap and pricing and packaging decisions

  • Use AI tools to move faster and raise the quality bar for the team

What we're looking for:
  • 12+ years of experience in B2B product marketing, including 5+ years leading product marketing teams

  • A track record of defining positioning and category strategy for an enterprise software, data, or developer-focused platform, and seeing it show up in pipeline, win rates, and revenue

  • You are familiar with cloud data platforms and how data and AI workloads get built, run, and monitored in production.

  • Experience leading major product launches and go-to-market motions across Product, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success

  • Proven ability to build, develop, and retain a high-performing team, hiring great talent and raising the bar on craft and rigor

  • Executive presence and storytelling skill, with the credibility to influence the CEO, CPO, and CRO, and to represent the company with customers, analysts, and partners

  • A data-driven approach to strategy. You use customer insight, competitive intelligence, and win/loss data to make decisions and measure the impact of your programs

  • Experience enabling a global field organization with messaging, sales tools, and training that reps actually use

  • Strategic thinking paired with a bias toward action. You're comfortable setting direction for a function and rolling up your sleeves when the team needs it

  • Comfort with ambiguity and pace in a fast-growing company, and a collaborative, low-ego style that fits a no-handoffs culture

Bonus points if you have:
  • Experience marketing to technical audiences (developer tools, data, or infrastructure)

  • Familiarity with Apache Airflow or adjacent tools is a plus.

  • Background in open source, developer community, or data orchestration and workflow tooling

  • Experience scaling a product marketing team through a period of rapid growth

The estimated total maximum compensation for this role Is approximately $310,000.00 based on leveling and geography, along with an equity component and a comprehensive benefits package (85% base salary, 15% bonus). This range is merely an estimate; actual compensation may deviate from this range based on skills, experience, and qualifications.
