BlackLine is seeking a VP of AI & Automation Programs to lead one of our most strategic internal initiatives — transforming how our business operates through AI. This is a senior leadership role responsible for building and running BlackLine's enterprise AI program end-to-end: from strategy and governance to execution and adoption. The role sits at the intersection of technology, operations, and business transformation, and requires a leader who can operate at the executive level while staying close to the ground-level work of building AI agents and driving change.

  • Own and drive BlackLine's internal AI transformation program, establishing a clear roadmap aligned to measurable business outcomes including productivity gains, cost efficiency, and revenue enablement.
  • Define success metrics and report program progress to the CIO and senior leadership.
  • Build and manage a high-performing team of AI program managers, solution architects, and citizen development leads. Business Partnership & AI Enablement
  • Partner deeply with Finance, Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, HR, Legal, and other functions to identify high-impact AI use cases and translate them into deployed solutions.
  • Lead the design and deployment of AI agents and automation workflows in collaboration with business and IT stakeholders.
  • Drive AI adoption across the organization through enablement programs, change management, and user training
  • ensuring tools are used effectively, not just deployed. Governance & Responsible AI
  • Work closely with Legal, InfoSec, and Compliance teams to establish AI policies, data governance standards, and a tiered access framework that balances innovation with risk management.
  • Maintain oversight of the AI tool stack and enforce responsible use principles including data privacy, model transparency, and audit readiness.
  • Serve as a key voice in defining BlackLine's internal AI governance model as the regulatory and enterprise AI landscape evolves.

What You'll Bring:

  • 12+ years of experience in technology leadership, with at least 3-5 years leading enterprise AI, automation, or digital transformation programs at scale.
  • Proven track record of building AI/ML or intelligent automation programs that delivered measurable business impact.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence and align senior stakeholders across functions.
  • Hands-on experience working with modern AI platforms including Claude (Anthropic), Gemini and Vertex AI (Google), OpenAI/ChatGPT, and enterprise automation tools such as Workato or equivalent
  • with the ability to evaluate, govern, and orchestrate across a multi-LLM environment.
  • Deep understanding of AI governance, data classification, and responsible AI principles.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Legal and InfoSec in regulated or compliance-sensitive environments.
  • Excellent program management skills
  • able to operate at strategic and execution levels simultaneously. Why This Role This is a rare opportunity to build something from the ground up inside a high-growth fintech company. You'll have executive sponsorship, a clear mandate, and the ability to shape how AI transforms BlackLine's operations for years to come.
