Position Overview:

Are you passionate about building the foundational systems that power how Autodesk's customers discover, purchase, and transact through scalable .com and commerce technology platforms? Autodesk is seeking a dynamic, technically grounded, and strategically minded leader to join our team as VP, Commerce Technology. This critical senior role reports to our SVP, COO Chief Technologist, placing you at the heart of our commerce innovation and platform strategy.

As a pivotal member of the GET (Growth Experience Technologies) leadership team, you will own both the product management and engineering functions responsible for platform and application systems that serve as the backbone of Autodesk's commerce engine. This encompasses the platforms, APIs, and integrations that enable global transaction processing, catalogue and pricing, entitlement management, subscription lifecycle, and checkout experiences across Autodesk's digital and partner channels.

The successful candidate brings deep technical fluency alongside strong product instincts — someone who can partner with marketing, finance, sales, and go-to-market teams while driving a world-class product management and engineering organization to deliver reliable, scalable, and innovative commerce infrastructure. You thrive in a culture that is employee-first, customer-centric, and committed to continuous transformation. This role owns the technology platforms that power Autodesk’s .com and commerce capabilities and partners closely with teams that define and own the customer experience.

Responsibilites

  • Build and lead a combined product management and engineering organization of 200+ professionals accountable for the technical design, development, and operation of Autodesk's core commerce technology systems

  • Cultivate a culture of innovation, engineering excellence, and customer obsession — fostering experimentation, psychological safety, and high performance across the team

  • Own and evolve the technical roadmap for Autodesk's commerce platform, aligning capabilities with business priorities across subscription, direct, and partner sales motions

  • Drive annual planning processes that result in a 1–3 year platform strategy, securing executive alignment and resourcing to deliver against it

  • Own the full technology stack for .com and commerce, including front-end web platforms and backend systems such as subscriptions, payments, entitlements, and pricing

  • Lead a high-performing engineering organization responsible for building and maintaining the distributed systems, microservices, and integrations that form the commerce foundation

  • Drive platform reliability, scalability, and security standards — ensuring commerce systems meet SLA requirements and can support Autodesk's global transactional volume

  • Champion engineering best practices including CI/CD, observability, system resilience, and API-first design principles

  • Partner with Marketing, Finance, Operations, and Legal teams to ensure commerce systems meet business and compliance requirements (SOX, PCI-DSS, GDPR)

  • Collaborate closely with Marketing, Digital, and Customer Success to deliver seamless commerce experiences across Autodesk's owned channels and third-party platforms

  • Engage external technology partners such as AWS, and payment processors to extend platform capabilities and ensure strategic vendor alignment

  • Define, track, and report against KPIs and OKRs for commerce platform health, velocity, reliability, and business impact

  • Foster a data-driven culture using metrics to validate decisions, measure outcomes, and continuously improve the commerce platform

  • Attract, develop, and retain exceptional product and engineering talent — building clear career paths, mentorship structures, and a team culture that draws top performers

  • Model inclusive leadership and actively contribute to Autodesk's diversity and belonging goals within your organization

Minimum Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in enterprise technology, with 5+ years leading combined product and engineering organizations in a senior leadership capacity

  • Proven track record building and operating large-scale commerce, payments, or transactional platform systems in a global SaaS or eCommerce environment

  • Deep technical credibility — able to engage engineering teams on architecture, system design, and build vs. buy decisions with substantive depth

  • Experience owning systems that touch pricing engines, subscription management, entitlements, or payment processing at scale

  • Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance frameworks including SOX, PCI-DSS, and GDPR as they apply to commerce technology

  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills — able to influence executive stakeholders, align cross-functional partners, and inspire large geo-distributed teams

  • Proficiency with agile engineering principles, platform thinking, and API-first architecture patterns

  • Experience leading complex technology transformations, including system modernization, vendor migrations, and platform consolidation

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field required; Advanced degree is a plus

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in marketplace, subscription-based or consumption, usage-based billing models in a B2B SaaS context

  • Familiarity with Autodesk's or similar go-to-market motion including direct, channel, and marketplace sales models

  • Certifications in agile methodologies, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), or enterprise architecture
