Role Overview

We are looking for a Chief Operating Officer for the Slack organization whose responsibility spans GTM operations, product strategy and commercialization, AI-driven growth, and business transformation. The COO will establish and drive multiple work-streams across the company to accelerate Slack's product development, GTM, and customer success efforts. This individual is a seasoned operator with both entrepreneurial and corporate experience, able to work at startup speed and enterprise scale, and able to advise the Slack CEO and cross-functional leaders across Product, Engineering, Distribution, Marketing, CSG, Services, Partnerships, Finance, BT, and Legal to drive success in these key areas:

Running the Slack Business
  • Shape the future of Slack GTM strategy that delivers key business priorities, with a focus on AI-powered work and the Agentforce platform
  • Drive effective participation across annual business planning activities for Salesforce, including V2MOM, Quarterly Business Reviews, LRP, G4G, and budgeting
  • Create the appropriate forums for collaboration and decision-making across Sales, Marketing, and Product to drive business growth
  • Operationalize the GTM, including Pipeline Management & Forecasting
  • Lead demand generation programs and Slack enablement
  • Build a culture of Commercial Excellence founded on accountability, discipline, and rigor
  • Proactively monitor the health of the business, partnering with leadership to drive profitable growth
  • Manage team budget in partnership with Finance (CTS, Headcount, Vendor, T&E, etc.)
  • Be a core partner with the CEO and Employee Success to ensure team health is high; drive survey action items in partnership with key stakeholders
  • Functional leadership (dotted line) with BT / ES / Legal, Finance, Customer Success, and Marketing
  • Support and build relationships across Alliances & Channels
Product Commercialization & AI Strategy
  • Lead product commercialization strategy for Slack's AI and Agentforce integrations — developing new use cases, integrating customer feedback, and monetizing new offerings
  • Drive PDE & Commercial Strategy including offer development, Pricing & Packaging for AI-first SKUs
  • Lead business operations rhythm for Self-Service and PLG (Product-Led Growth) motions
  • Ensure proper metrics and priorities to scale Slack's self-service and AI capabilities across the Salesforce ecosystem
  • Partner with Product and Engineering on roadmap alignment and investment prioritization
Business Leadership & Executive Alignment
  • Responsible for driving the effectiveness of the Slack ELT and amplifying the impact of the CEO/GM
  • Define strategic customer engagement (Advisory boards, account sponsorship, executive experiences during events)
  • Drive CEO/GM Thought Leadership & Slack ELT Media Education
  • Drive executive engagement for Strategic Alliance partners
  • Ensure effective ELT collaboration — weekly meetings, team events, key decisions
  • Prioritize most impactful CEO/GM engagements across customers, employees, press, and partners
  • Partner with CEO/GM on select offsite events on key messaging, presentation, and follow-through on key outcomes
Culture & Organizational Health
  • Lead communications, organization design, and change management in partnership with Employee Success
  • Build a high-performance, inclusive culture aligned to Salesforce values (Ohana, Trust, Innovation, Equality)
  • Drive leadership development and succession planning across the Slack org
  • Be a core partner with Employee Success to ensure team health is high and drive survey action items
Required Skills
  • Senior leader with executive management and communication skills, startup hustle, and alignment to Salesforce core values
  • Ability to influence key stakeholders across a large, matrixed organization
  • Great manager of managers — empowers, inspires, and develops senior leaders
  • Relentless at prioritization and driving stakeholder alignment
  • Effective communicator — right level of altitude for the right audience
  • Proven track record of managing strategy & operational teams in large, matrixed organizations
  • 15+ years of experience across general management, strategy, operations, product commercialization, or GTM; utility player able to wear multiple hats and play high or play low as needed
  • Deep familiarity with SaaS business models, AI-driven products, and enterprise GTM motions
  • Proven ability to track, prioritize, and drive multiple large initiatives concurrently across cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, Customer Success, Product Marketing, SIs, and more)
  • Highly motivated, execution-focused, with a positive and resilient attitude
  • Advanced Slack and Salesforce product knowledge strongly preferred

At Salesforce, we believe in equitable compensation practices that reflect the dynamic nature of labor markets across various regions. The typical base salary range for this position is $221,900 - $390,300 annually. In select cities within the San Francisco and New York City metropolitan area, the base salary range for this role is $266,900 - $426,900 annually. The range represents base salary only, and does not include company bonus, incentive for sales roles, equity or benefits, as applicable.
