Cash-flow positive. A mission that matters: democratizing financial wellness for every American, not just the ones who can afford a private banker.

About the role

As VP of Finance, you'll manage interface.ai's financial operations, strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting. You'll own the reporting that our board, our investors, and our bank and credit union customers rely on. You'll report directly to our CEO and work with the leadership team on every major decision about where we invest and how fast we grow.

Location: On-site, San Francisco
Reports to: CEO

Key responsibilities

Financial planning and analysis (FP&A)
  • Lead the long-range plan, annual operating budget, and rolling forecasts.

  • Own cash flow management and financial modeling, including scenario planning for hiring and growth.

  • Track and report ARR, net revenue retention, gross margin, CAC payback, and unit economics by product line.

  • Run monthly budget-vs-actual reviews with department leaders.

Operations and reporting
  • Oversee daily financial operations, including accounting, billing, collections, payroll, and spend management.

  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, and deliver accurate financial statements on schedule.

  • Own revenue recognition (ASC 606) for multi-year enterprise contracts.

  • Prepare and present quarterly board and investor reporting.

  • Manage cash, banking relationships, and the finance tech stack (ERP, billing, payroll, spend management).

Strategic decision support
  • Partner with the CEO and department heads to evaluate capital allocation, ROI, profit margins, and growth opportunities.

  • Build the business cases behind major investments in products, markets, and headcount.

  • Provide finance support for bank and credit union vendor due diligence reviews.

Multi-state and international finance
  • Manage multi-state tax compliance, including sales and use tax, nexus, income and franchise tax, and multi-state payroll.

  • Oversee finance for international entities (including India): statutory compliance, transfer pricing, intercompany accounting, and consolidation.

  • Manage outside tax, legal, and audit advisors, and decide which work to bring in-house.

Risk and compliance
  • Ensure adherence to GAAP across all entities.

  • Build and maintain internal controls, with SOX readiness in mind as the company scales.

  • Lead annual financial audits and support regulatory audits.

Team leadership
  • Hire, mentor, and manage the finance, accounting, and analyst team.

  • Set the processes and goals that let the team scale with the company.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years as a Director or VP of Finance, ideally in AI, SaaS, financial services, or banking.

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics. An MBA or master's degree is strongly preferred.

  • Hands-on experience with multi-state and multi-country finance: state tax nexus, multi-state payroll, foreign entity compliance, transfer pricing, and consolidated reporting.

  • Strong command of GAAP, revenue recognition, and internal controls.

  • A track record of leading FP&A, owning the close, and managing external audits.

  • Experience preparing board materials and working directly with investors.

  • Comfort working hands-on: you build the model yourself and set the strategy.

  • Clear communication with engineers, sellers, executives, and board members alike.

Nice to have
  • CPA, CFA, or CMA certification.

  • Big 4 background

  • Experience building SOX-ready controls.

  • Experience working with banks or credit unions, including vendor due diligence and financial reviews.

  • Experience entities in other global markets, i.e. India

Benefits

  • 🍜 Daily meals on us

  • 🚇 Commuter benefit

  • 💪 Monthly wellness stipend

  • 🤖 Claude Enterprise + frontier AI tools for every employee, build with the best

  • 🏙️ Brand-new 21st-floor SF office, above Montgomery BART Station

  • 🌴 Discretionary PTO + paid parental leave

  • 🧘 Mental health, wellness & family benefits

  • 🚀 A mission-driven team shaping the future of banking

Why interface.ai

Series A · $30M raised · Cash-flow positive — we're not burning cash hoping the product works. It works. Customers are live, revenue is real, and the mission is one you can explain to your family without a slide deck. You'll work directly with Bruce Kim (CTO / Co-Founder), who sets the technical bar and goes deep on the hardest problems, and Srinivas Njay (CEO), who is hands-on daily across product and engineering. Founding-team-tier equity, top-of-market base, comprehensive benefits, and a modern San Francisco office worth showing up to. The team is small enough that your judgment shapes everything, and the market is large enough that what you build will matter for a long time.
