Our Mission and Vision

Unlearn exists to transform clinical development by making every trial smarter. We harness data, AI, and digital twins to enable faster, more robust studies that bring life-saving treatments to patients faster. This mission drives everything we do as we partner with biopharmaceutical companies to redesign how clinical trials are planned, run, and analyzed.

We are defining the future of clinical development with unmatched scientific credibility, replacing uncertainty with AI-powered precision so decisions are clearer and trials are stronger. We don’t just disrupt the pharmaceutical industry, we create lasting change.

We believe AI will define the future of medicine, and we are committed to building that future responsibly, rigorously, and in close collaboration with our partners in clinical development.

About Our Team

We come from a variety of backgrounds ranging from machine learning to marketing—but regardless of where we come from, Unlearners share some common traits:

  • Unlearners are ambitious; we aren’t intimidated by big, challenging goals.

  • Unlearners are disciplined experimenters; we break down our big goals into smaller chunks and meet as often as necessary to track our velocity and iterate quickly.

  • Unlearners are gritty; we never give up, setbacks just make us try harder.

  • Unlearners are receptive to new ideas; in fact, we hate being stuck with the status quo

  • Unlearners are storytellers; sharing information with each other and with the world is super important, too important to be boring. And, last but not least,

  • Unlearners are team-oriented; we put the mission first, the company second, the team third, and individuals last.

Headquartered in San Francisco, Unlearn was founded in 2017 by a team of world-class machine learning scientists. We have raised venture capital from top tier investors such as Altimeter, Insight Partners, Radical Ventures, 8VC, DCVC, and DCVC Bio, and completed our $50 million Series C in January 2024.

If our purpose and culture resonate with you, we invite you to apply.

Your Role

At Unlearn, we are defining the future of clinical development with unmatched scientific credibility, replacing uncertainty with AI-powered precision so decisions are clearer and trials are stronger. Our mission is to transform clinical development by making every trial smarter. We harness data, AI, and digital twins to enable faster, more robust studies that bring life-saving treatments to patients faster. We're here to not just disrupt the pharmaceutical industry, but create lasting change.

As the VP of Product, you will play a key role in taking our cutting-edge technology and turning it into entirely new products from the ground up—work that is truly 0-to-1. You’ll lead the development of innovative product strategies that leverage our AI platform and collaborate across Engineering, Data Science, Biostatistics, and Machine Learning. You’ll be responsible for creating entirely new products that are at the intersection of AI and healthcare, shaping the future of clinical trials and accelerating the drug development process.

You’ll work with company leadership to translate this vision into a concrete product roadmap and lead your team in delivering transformative solutions. This role requires a combination of strategic thinking and hands-on execution—transforming ambitious concepts into tangible, impactful products.

Responsibilities
  • Set and drive company-wide Product strategy, defining the long-term strategic vision and near-term execution roadmap to align with Unlearn’s vision, mission, and quarterly business goals.

  • Lead the creation of entirely new products, taking novel AI capabilities from research and technical proof-of-concept to production-ready offerings that solve real problems in clinical trials and drug development.

  • Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing Product team — including Product Managers and, as the organization scales, other Product leaders — instilling a culture of rigorous experimentation, data-driven decision-making, and customer obsession.

  • Work as a trusted partner to Engineering, Data Science, Biostatistics, Clinical Science, Business Development, and Finance leadership; and represent Product with the Executive Leadership Team and key customers.

  • Bring deep familiarity with AI/ML-driven, data-intensive products to bear on decisions about what to build, how to validate it scientifically and commercially, and how to earn trust from a regulated, evidence-driven customer base.

  • Develop a deep, ongoing understanding of the needs of Biopharma, Clinical, and Data Science stakeholders to ensure the roadmap drives measurable value and adoption.

  • Establish operational KPIs, performance-tracking metrics, and resource allocation strategies to transition the platform from ad-hoc projects to repeatable delivery models.

Requirements
  • 10+ years in Product Management with a track record of leading Product teams and organizations, including experience operating at VP or Senior Director level with people-leadership responsibility across multiple Product Managers.

  • Direct experience building AI- or data-platform-driven products in Biotech, Pharma, Life Sciences, or a comparably regulated, evidence-driven industry. You understand the clinical trial space and drug development lifecycle well enough to have informed opinions about where technology does and doesn't help.

  • Product ownership from concept to reality in new markets, including defining net-new offerings rather than only iterating on existing ones.

  • Strong ability to discuss clinical trial design, regulatory strategy, and competitive dynamics with senior leaders without retreating to technical jargon. You've been in rooms where the conversation was about business decisions, not Product decisions, and you contributed.

  • Comfort operating across Engineering, Data Science, Biostatistics/ Clinical Science, and Commercial teams, and ability to translate between highly technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Experience in early-stage companies, on transformation efforts or new initiatives where the scope was unclear and the playbook didn't exist.

  • Experience partnering with C-suite and communicating product strategy and trade-offs to a Board or equivalent audience.

  • Strong ability to leverage data to drive Product decisions and an unrelenting focus on solving real-world customer problems through innovative Product solutions.

Benefits & Perks

The following benefits and perks are for full time roles only.

  • Meaningful equity participation

  • 100% company-covered medical, dental, & vision insurance plans

  • 401k plan with matching

  • Flexible PTO plus company holidays

  • Annual company-wide break December 24 through January 1

  • Commuter benefits

  • Paid Parental Leave
