About Us

We're living through a fundamental shift in how people discover, evaluate, and purchase products. The next generation doesn't respond to traditional marketing -- they build relationships with brands through authentic social interactions, seek recommendations from communities they trust, and expect personalized experiences that feel human, not corporate.

At Nectar Social, we're building the AI-native social operating system that enables this new era of commerce. We believe every social interaction should deepen the relationship between brands and their communities while creating genuine value for both sides.

Founded by ex-Meta product and engineering leaders, we've raised over $30M in total capital from investors including GV and True Ventures. We work with brands like Oura Health, Caraway, e.l.f. Cosmetics, Kosas, OLIPOP, and many more. We're building the future of social commerce -- where community, conversation, and commerce converge.

The Opportunity

We're hiring Nectar's first VP of Sales, the founding leader of our sales function. This role will build the sales organization from the ground up alongside our founders, define how Nectar sells, and hire the team that will scale it. You'll work closely with the CEO and leadership team to translate early customer traction into a repeatable, scalable revenue engine, and you'll be the person setting the tone, process, and standards for every sales hire who follows.

This role suits someone who wants to build rather than inherit: a hands-on operator who is as comfortable closing deals personally in month one as they are designing comp plans and hiring a team at the same time.

What You'll Do
  • Own and build Nectar's sales function from scratch, including strategy, process, tooling, and team structure.

  • Personally source, run, and close deals with mid-market and enterprise brands in Nectar's early days, while building the systems to scale beyond founder-led sales.

  • Partner directly with the CEO and leaders to define ideal customer profile, pricing and packaging, and go-to-market strategy.

  • Design and implement repeatable sales processes: pipeline management, forecasting, deal reviews, and CRM hygiene.

  • Recruit, hire, and develop Nectar's sales hires as the team scales post-Series A.

  • Build and manage the sales pipeline, ensuring accurate forecasting and reporting to the executive team and board.

  • Work cross-functionally with Marketing, Product, and Customer Success to align on messaging, feedback loops, and customer expansion.

  • Represent Nectar externally with senior marketing and brand stakeholders, becoming a trusted advisor to prospective customers.

  • Set the early culture and standards of the sales org; the playbook this person builds becomes the foundation for the team.

What You'll Bring
  • 7+ years in B2B SaaS sales, with a track record of quota-carrying success and at least 2+ years in a sales leadership role (VP, Director, or Head of Sales).

  • Experience selling into marketing, brand, or e-commerce organizations; familiarity with martech, social, or CRM tooling is a strong plus.

  • Direct experience as an early or founding sales hire at a Series A or Series B startup; you understand what it takes to build a function with no existing playbook.

  • Proven ability to both sell personally and build/manage a team.

  • Comfort operating with ambiguity and evolving priorities in a fast-moving, resource-constrained environment.

  • Strong command of sales fundamentals: pipeline discipline, forecasting accuracy, and CRM/data hygiene (e.g., Salesforce).

  • Excellent communication and executive presence; ability to influence founders, board members, and enterprise buyers alike.

  • Based in, or willing to relocate to, the San Francisco Bay Area.

Nice to Have
  • Experience selling AI or agentic software products.

  • Existing relationships with brand, marketing, or e-commerce leaders at consumer companies.

  • A network of proven sales talent you could bring in as Nectar's early sales hires.

What We Offer
  • Competitive compensation and early equity

  • Health, vision, and dental benefits + 401(k) match

  • Clear career growth opportunities as the company scales

  • Free lunch in the heart of University Ave. in Palo Alto

  • Deep exposure to cutting-edge AI tooling and the opportunity to shape how brands use it

  • A collaborative, ambitious team defining a new category of AI-native marketing infrastructure
