Job Summary

The VP, Total Rewards and HR Operations leads the design, execution and ongoing optimization of the F&G’s compensation, benefits, and HR Operations strategy. This role is accountable for attracting and retaining talent through competitive rewards programs while ensuring compliant and scalable HR Operations.

This role will ensure our compensation, benefits, and payroll functions operate efficiently while maintaining compliance with relevant regulations. This leader will lead HR technology optimization to support business objectives and enhance employee experience.

The role reports to the SVP, CHRO and leads a team specializing in Compensation, Benefits, Payroll, Compliance and HR technology, data and reporting and analytics. This role interacts with all levels across the organization and leads relationships with external vendors that support the business.

Duties and Responsibilities

Total Rewards Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and own the enterprise Total Rewards philosophy, ensuring market competitiveness, alignment with business strategy, and alignment with market trends
  • Design, govern, and optimize compensation programs (salary structures, merit increases, incentive plans, sales incentive plans, executive compensation, and equity-based incentives) with a focus on performance, retention, and in compliance with public company requirements
  • Oversee executive compensation programs
  • Develop and maintain job architecture, salary structures, and performance-based reward systems
  • Lead annual compensation planning processes, including merit increases and bonus programs
  • Partner with Finance to forecast and manage compensation budgets

Benefits Strategy & Execution

  • Direct the strategy, design, and administration of comprehensive employee benefits programs
  • Evaluate and select benefits vendors and third-party administrators
  • Ensure cost-effective benefits offerings while maintaining competitive positioning
  • Oversee benefits compliance, including ACA reporting and Form 5500 filings
  • Lead annual benefits enrollment processes and ongoing benefits communications

Payroll Operations

  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing for all onshore and offshore employees
  • Oversee payroll tax compliance and reporting
  • Implement and maintain payroll systems and processes
  • Manage relationships with payroll vendors and service providers
  • Direct payroll audits and controls to ensure data integrity

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
  • Oversee FLSA classification, EEO reporting, and other regulatory requirements
  • Oversee workers' compensation and unemployment insurance programs
  • Oversee development and implementation HR policies and procedures to mitigate risk

HR Technology, Data and Analytics

  • Develop and execute HR technology strategy aligned with business objectives
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for HR systems (HRIS, payroll systems, benefits platforms, and other HR technologies)
  • Oversee data governance, integrity, security and compliance
  • Lead HR analytics and reporting foundation to support data-driven decision making

Leadership

  • Serve as a strategic business partner to executive leadership
  • Build and lead a high-performing Total Rewards and Operations team
  • Establish Total Rewards and HR Operations key performance indicators and metrics
  • Present to Board of Directors and committees
  • Participate in due diligence for mergers and acquisitions

Experience and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 15+ years of progressive HR experience with at least 8 years in leadership roles
  • Experience working in a publicly traded company environment
  • Demonstrated expertise in total rewards, payroll operations, and HR technology
  • Experience leading HR teams through organizational change and growth
  • Professional HR certification preferred (SPHR, SHRM-SCP, CCP, CBP, or equivalent)
  • Experience in insurance/financial services sector is preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • In-depth knowledge of compensation practices, benefits administration, and payroll operations
  • Strong understanding of employment laws and regulations affecting public companies
  • Experience with HRIS implementations and HR technology solutions
  • Excellent financial acumen and budgeting skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Outstanding communication, negotiation, stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Strong vendor management experience and ability to optimize external partnerships

  • Perform other functions, duties and projects, as assigned
  • Regular and punctual attendance
  • Ability to travel up to 20%
