As an Account Executive, you'll develop sales strategies, build city partnerships, and shape the go-to-market approach for Rec, focusing on municipal leaders.

About Rec

Think about the last time you tried to book a tennis court. Or sign your kid up for a swim lesson. Or find an open rec league that actually fits your schedule. You probably ended up on a website that looked like it was built in 2003 — or god forbid, filled out a piece of paper.

$3T is spent on recreation globally, and it's built on a completely fragmented system that's largely untouched by technology.

At Rec (recreation.ai), we're using AI to change that — reimagining how the world plays, participates in community, and gets active. Our vision is simple: more recreation for everyone. We sit at a rare intersection — a consumer product loved by everyday players and an enterprise platform trusted by the organizations that power recreation.

We're a small team with firepower. Our founders were among the first few hundred at Uber, then led teams at The Athletic and MasterClass. The rest of the team combines builders from Google, Microsoft, Strava, Hipcamp, and Airbnb.

People join Rec for two reasons: you want to build AI that gets people back in the real world, and you want to work with really smart people.

About The Role

This isn't just a sales job. This is your chance to help build the future of Rec from the ground up — sales strategy, market presence, and customer relationships.

As one of our earliest Account Executives, you'll own major city markets, craft the playbook, and move fast to scale our impact nationwide.

What You'll Own
  • Own and grow our national pipeline of city partnerships (focused primarily on the East Coast) — this is a core company priority.

  • Lead with empathy and insight, building real relationships with Parks & Rec leaders who want solutions, not just pitches.

  • Shape our go-to-market strategy: design and iterate outbound campaigns, messaging, and the sales process.

  • Build Rec's brand in the municipal space by spotting creative opportunities for awareness and growth.

  • Help build the Sales team — your learnings will directly influence hiring, training, and scaling.

Who You Are
  • 5+ years crushing it in B2B enterprise SaaS sales. You know how to build trust and close big deals.

  • You thrive in early-stage chaos, bringing structure and clarity without slowing down.

  • Bias for action. You set ambitious goals, move fast, and finish strong.

  • A sharp, empathetic communicator who uncovers real customer needs and crafts tailored solutions.

  • Entrepreneurial grit — curious, scrappy, and driven to open new markets and build from zero.

  • Passionate about community, sports, and recreation — and want your work to reflect those values.

  • Comfortable pushing through objections and turning challenges into opportunities.

Our Values
  • Be Relentless. Move fast. Own it. Ship real value early and often.

  • Win Together. Speak up, go beyond the boundaries of your role. That's how we win.

  • Take Pride. Treat this like it's yours — because it is.

Pay & Benefits
  • Compensation: $160,000–$220,000 OTE + meaningful equity (final offer will be based on your background, experience and skillset)

  • Benefits: Flexible PTO, top-tier health/dental/vision, and a 401(k) plan to support your future.

  • Work location: San Francisco — in-office most days at our FiDi SF office.

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
